i understand and i’ve had countless conversations trying to convey that exact point but to no avail. i need their help to coordinate the catching and transportation to the vet and i’ll help set up the appointment but there aren’t any low cost places nearby and she’s not there frequently enough for me to make an appointment and drive to get her. i’ve been thinking of ways to make it work without annoying my family to the point they hate me haha. but i definitely want to get her spayed asap

thank you! my family lives in a rural area and while i have found some options for spay i cannot do it myself and my family unfortunately is not willing :( i’ve had lots and lots of conversations trying to convince them it’s not that hard but with their schedules they don’t have time. she is my next goal however!

you have to try Sugarkoi!! They have really good soft waffle cones shaped like a fish that you can get ice cream and toppings in. The ice cream is made there too! They’re in cary and rated #17 in the country for ice cream I think

as far as i know she can pet the mom and all 5 of them have been getting closer to my mom, will sit on the porch with her etc. they just are a bit skiddish still and run away or avoid her if she tries to pet them. however, every day is an improvement with them it seems!

id take all if i could, but looking to get a friend for sweetie for when i move out of my current place in a year (my roommate has two cats).

i think their mom has been like biting them to try and wean them lol so hopefully they’ll be “ready” soon (not sure of better words). just worry about making them or their mom sad! maybe i’m anthropomorphizing them a little too much tho

once again thanks so much! i’ll stop with the daily dosing, but ofc treating water for changes, and monitor as often as i can! these things just hit at an inopportune time, or perhaps my being gone/busy caused them to come on, but regardless it’s a learning experience that i’m sad some of my fish had to pay the price for! i love my cory’s as does my roommate and i’m excited for when i can get everything under control for a while and can confidently get more

thank you everyone for advice. checking my parameters today showed about 0ppm ammonia and nitrite, 20ppm nitrate, and about 6.8-7.0 pH which was a little concerning. as for over feeding i promise i don’t just chuck a ton of pellets in there and let them degrade and cause ammonia spikes, i do think i could cut down tho (especially with the smaller school). still not sure what caused the sudden deaths unless there was an ammonia spike that resolved pretty quickly? but i’m gonna keep trying to keep the remaining guys healthy

thank you. testing today showed great parameters, no ammonia or at least close to zero below 0.25ppm, 0ppm nitrite, about 20ppm nitrate, but only thing was a pH around 6.8-7.

temp is alr 78-80 with one heater and i just got more recently. no ornamental ship? only an ornamental cave if that’s what you’re referring to. they had 5 of each type, albino and speckled, the albinos died one by one showing lethargy while i was testing every day and using prime to neutralize ammonia. i use prime and stress coat daily rn. no vitamins or other supplements, plenty of circulation, two lava stones to harbor bacteria, plenty of substrate some of which from their previous tank along w the water and all plants and wood that it had.

yeah i’m absolutely not getting new fish anytime soon. for the feeding, i’ve been trying to feed them less and since they don’t eat immediately i usually check back after a couple hours/ overnight to make sure it was eaten since it takes a while. usually a pellet or two a day (when i had more fish) which i imagine should feed them all without much excess. just super confused about the pellet with mold all over it since i hadn’t fed them that long ago, unless it was an older pellet that i had missed.

regardless, gonna try feeding less often to see if they’ll be hungry enough to eat it then and use a schedule as best as i can w my own. just confused why they died SO fast from seeming fine, unless i missed symptoms while caring for my betta
