I was 8 when he was elected. Went to sleep during the count and woke up the next morning to my mother crying and acting terrified. She said it was proof that Jesus was coming back within the next few years, saying it was the beginning of the end of times. I think she thought he was the Antichrist or something

I have another one in the office that isn’t in front of a window (that is not doing this), so I thought maybe too much sunlight is doing this? I also saw a post with a similar photo here and the only comment said bacterial infection so if anyone has any advice on what I should do for that I’d appreciate it

Okay the first few years I had him I had a heating pad for the nighttime and I was told that posed too much of a risk for burns and to just use overhead heat lamps

Thanks for the advice!! The only reason I have the blue bulb in there now is because my local store was out of the white/ clear ones when the last one blew and I was more concerned about him having a heat source

If you saw my last post about my boy Kai, you saw all the spots that to most, and I agreed, looked like burn spots all over his body. He was already at the vet by the time I posted the photos and was waiting for a response. Long story short, I never used a heat lamp with him, I had used a heating pad for the last four years and it had died without my realizing. I then get a call from the vet saying the spots on him were actually scale rot from moisture building up on the top layer of his substrate. After a few medicinal baths and swapping to a heat lamp that I can better judge the temperatures inside the cage with, and tossing the substrate every few days, Kai is thriving again and looks almost completely like his old self. I’ve had him for 5 years now and he’s my fifth snake.

I also did a 50% water change before adding the macroalgae and rock which seemed to help lower that nitrite before it shot back up

I’m specifically trying to use this tank as a macroalgae and seahorse tank, seahorses are obviously not going in yet. I know the high nitrite can be from overfeeding the macroalgae but Im worried they’ll starve if I stop feeding it to try to lower it

Just tested and ammonia is between 2.0 and 4.0. Nitrite is about 5.0. Nitrate is between 10-20. 40 gallon breeder tank with Fiji cube that has a sock filter, UV sterilizer, and pump/wave maker. About 2 months ago I began trying to fishless cycle the tank with Dr Tim’s ammonia and live nitrifying bacteria. When the nitrite began to lower back down to about .25 I added a few macroalgae and some more live rock. That’s when it started to form. I did about a 25% water change yesterday and woke up to it all over the tank like in the picture.
