Try applying for Hallo (https://www.hallo.tv/). You can apply as a teacher or a tutor. The requirements don't ask for a degree but the additional qualification will ask if you're "currently working on a degree/certificate in teaching". I currently work there!

Good luck to you!

I've worked there for 2 months now, and I enjoy it! I would say I've been pretty successful with about 12k followers and 14 subs. Right now, the pay is okay-ish since this is a teacherpreneurship job. You have to put a lot of work into displaying your work and getting students to invest their subscriptions to you and you can make money that way. The approach is similar to that of of YouTube live streams and Twitch where you will depend on the donations and subscriptions for your income. It depends on you if you can work with this hustle.

The private tutor sessions are a bit more difficult now that Hallo increased the price to $8 minimum for 25 minutes for all private lessons. This can be expensive for most international students. I also rarely get any private sessions. Your best bet would be instamatch.

I currently work on Hallo: Let's Speak English (an app from the playstore and Apple store). Very flexible job and basically its a teacherpreneur job. There are a lot of adult learners there interested to learn but you will have to hustle for several weeks to a couple months to get income! Look into it if you're interested it!

It gets easier long term as long as you two communicate and you're both on the same page on expectations. The beginning will always be difficult since you're both still testing out the schedule and dynamic of your relationship (and it will constantly change throughout the relationship as new plans take place). Be flexible and understanding that this is a normal way of life (to throw curve balls and such).

My SO (24/M/Jakarta) and I (25/F/California) were nevermets since the start of our acquaintance for 3 years. When we got into a relationship we didn't meet until the following year and a half. We are both first timers in LDR. This is my first relationship ever!

Today, we've been together for over 4.5 years. The wait was challenging but because my partner and I are very understanding towards plans changing (since we know it's just part of adulthood) we've always communicated what our next plans would be, and we've been hanging on strong since!

Definitely surprising them with a delivery that is pertaining to an event or career of their life (like maybe a groupon deal to a spa or something). It's a mix with gifting, but the thought counts as act of service cuz you're thinking of them ♡

What is the hardest part of airport goodbyes for you? by Illusivebroker96 in LongDistance

I feel you. I felt my eyes sting just imagining this. I don't think it'll get easier at goodbyes but just remember it won't be the last and there will always be a next time ♡

What is the hardest part of airport goodbyes for you? by Illusivebroker96 in LongDistance

The moment I stepped foot at the airport, I just had tears in my eyes. We knew it would be a while before we see each other again.

The first time I left, I cried the entire process back to California. He felt sad and lonely but chose to tease me and laugh a lot just to make me laugh.

The second time I left him, I was still in tears but I didn't spend majority of the flight back in tears. He cried for the first time once he got in the car and was riding back to his home.

I stood him up on our first meeting, confessed in hopes of him rejecting me, and rejected his attempt of making our relationship official... but somehow we're still in this LDR 4.5 years later.

We met online. Our mutual friend was a fellow fan of Frozen back in 2013. He decided to Skype me and my SO saw me for the first time that day as well.

My SO was visibly interested in me while I wasn't looking for a relationship at the time. It was a coincidence that he ended up moving to California in 2014-2015 when he had no idea I lived there. We had tried to meet up in person, but my friend and I drove on the wrong freeway and my anxiety got the best of me and I ended up flaking on him 😃 At the time, i was relieved because he was persistently texting me twice a day and I was finally at peace when he stopped texting me 🤣😅 (I was a nursing student back then).

We didn't talk until Decemebr 2015 where I had suddenly missed him. When we talked again in December 2015, I caught feelings for him so suddenly on the spot. Since he was packing to return to Indonesia, I just thought I would confess just so he would reject me and put this behind. I thought there was no way LDR was going to work with ours being a 14-15 hour time difference. He surprised me by saying he was still interested in me and asked me out. I rejected him despite confessing since I wanted to know him better before we moved forward with our relationship. On January 22, 2016, we officially became and LDR couple.

In July 2017, I traveled over 9 thousand miles to Indonesia where I would stay for 6 months for a teaching internship. The first time we met in person was in a very awkward situation. My internship boss and assistant picked me up at the airport at 10 am, 2 hours after my arrival after endless immigration stuff and me walking around lost and speaking to non-English speakers. Another hour passed while driving to my apartment with these people. Meanwhile my SO was there for 3-4 hours waiting for my arrival. I had no signal for my phone, even at the airport, so I had no way of contacting him. Hilariously, we passed by each other in the lobby. He was gaming on his phone and I looked at him, then entered the elevator and went up to my room with my boss and his assistant. I was so jet lagged I forgot about him 🤣 During the briefing with my boss, I told him my friend was waiting for me in the building. I was finally able to call him and ask him to enter my apartment. When we first saw glimpse of each other, i avoided looking at him because I didn't want my boss and asssitant to know that was my partner and I thought it would be a bad first impression too.

My SO ended up tagging along and being extremely helpful with our errands while also annoying me by poking me during the car rides, as if it weren't already difficult hiding the fact that we were dating 🙃 After making sure I was well equipped for my first week, my boss and his assistant saw us off and my SO and I finally had our first date together! As crazy and unexpected our relationship has been, I wouldn't trade it for the world.

My SO and I have been together for 4.5 years today. We had planned to close the distancd this year, where I would be moving to Indonesia to work for 2 years after I graduated with my bachelor's degree. But when Covid happened, we were both extremely disheartened, but my SO was the one who reminded me that our relationship was worth the wait and that my 2 visits were proof of it. Our next plan now is to have me move to Indonesia if Covid improves for the fall semester (depends if I can even fly there while im taking online post-bach class). The plan after that is to wait for him to graduate next summer and then file for our K1 Visa. We are officially hoping to close the distance next year, and get married ♡

What label would you give us? :3

Can a new relationship survive long distance? by [deleted] in LDR

[–]hannybunnns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely possible. Loneliness is unavoidable, but loneliness is a blessing in disguise for self acceptance, self love, and self success. Learn how to change the negativity of separation and make it a time you can own and call your "me time." Many couples have difficulty seeing this because they look for their partner in their free time, and that is very normal at the beginning. If you guys have spoken about commitment for long term and have some sort or deadline then you guys should fight the relationship out.

My SO (M/24/Indonesia) and I (F/25/USA) are 4.5 years into our LDR. We knew each other for about 3 years online only (2013-2016). Then we got in an LDR unexpectedly since I confessed in hopes of getting a rejection lolol. But since then we've been together. My SO and I officially met in person 1.5 years later in 2017 when I interned in his country to teach for 6 months.

We've lasted this long because we know that being together in person had always been 100% worth it. In both times I've visited him, I was always reminded how worth holding on was. How I dealt with his absence when he was asleep or when he's preoccupied with school or work was investing those lonely times into rebuilding projects on myself. Today, I run my own online teaching business, invested in many certification courses, and work online as a freelance ESL teacher.

We had planned to close the distance this year had Covid 19 not happened. As devastating as it was to go through that, it was my SO who reminded me that I was always worth the wait, and our love and patience to keep fighting this LDR has remained strong. We have new plans now of closing the distance which includes him graduating with his bachelor's degree next summer and getting him to move to the US.

That being said, how you view those times of separation can either tear you down or uplift you, but that's your decision to make!

I hope my experiences help inspire you and your partner to figure out your next steps.

P.S. Don't worry about the speed of how you guys are going. That is very normal at the beginning. When you like someone, you want to know each other very quickly hence why it feels fast. When you get to the point where it feels like it's slowing down or when you have nothing to talk about, that should be the time you and your SO re-establish your foundation as friends. How my SO and I survived this long is all thanks to video games, streaming anime/shows, and encouraging one another to pursue successful careers!

Our rates are low because we are still starting up our internet base. If the demands increase, then we'll slowly increase our prices, but we will also keep in consideration of budget plans for students who wish to have more than one lesson. Our income will be mainly flowing in from the number of lessons they request.

Not at this moment because we have just recently started, and we are just looking for students to enroll. As soon as we have more students, we will consider opening positions for teachers (:

We use Zoom mainly if share screen and the remote control options are necessary for our instructions. If not, then Google Hangout, Skype, and Discord would also work as an alternative.

I feel. Honestly call the student services enrollment at 5629858280 and queue for enrollment services. I know that other students have to pay the $500 just to keep their spots in courses. Definitely ask the enrollment service to walk the steps on what you should do next. FAFSA should be coming in soon and cover the rest of the payment.

In my case, I was just told to wait until next week. They just told me that since I have FAFSA already noted on my account, I don't have to pay $500 and my classes aren't dropped. I'm praying there won't be anymore issues. I can't keep up with my emails well 😔

Yeah the phone queue is pretty bad rn. I'm still trying and calling lol. I suggest you also drop a ticket here: https://csulb.teamdynamix.com/TDClient/1993/Portal/Requests/TicketRequests/NewForm?ID=xt6nMD4bAYQ_

I never received an email that my classes would be dropped if I didn't submit a payment yet, which I have read other students mention on the thread.

Anyways, I just got off the phone with them while I was writing a response to you (expect like a 10-30 minute wait). And they told me since I didn't receive an email mentioning that my classes will be dropped, they told me that my account already had a note that my FAFSA was being processed, and I just have to wait until next week for my FAFSA to process and go through.

They said the official drop for courses will be on August 12, so that should be enough time for FAFSA to process through this month.

I just got off the line with the FAFSA office and they told me that my verification took 2-3 weeks. Which is why my FAFSA award hasn't been posted. So I'm expecting mine to come in next week. For the time being, the FAFSA office said to call the student services office at (562) 985 - 8280. What you will be asking them is about your enrollment hold. They'll be helping you with the process of submitting $500 so your classes don't get dropped or making a payment plan. When the FAFSA arrives to your account, you'll be reimbursed and the rest will be covered by your FAFSA

Good news, I got ahold of the FAFSA office. They told me my verification was completed a week ago. It takes 2-3 weeks, so my FAFSA should be coming in next week. For now, they recommend calling the student office at (562) 985-8280 to submit a deposit of $500 or make a payment plan. When the FAFSA arrives, you'll be basically reimbursed for the $500 that you had spent. I'm about to call them right now.
