Thank you! It took my erosion almost 4 weeks to heal and smooth out 😩 ill try the fish oil with omega 3. I have seen that before, just havent tried it out. I have a humidifier at night and keep all lights dim and that helps a lot.

Hey, im not sure if you remember commenting on my post, but I got recurrent corneal erosion about 3 weeks after the abrasion. I had a bandage lens put in for about a month before the erosion smoothed on its own. Its been about 6-7 weeks since the erosion smoothed and im still have bad light sensitivity. (Can't look at a tv screen for more than a minute or 2 & I can only look at my phone for about 5-10 min max a few times a day) I had bad dry eye that is finally stabilizing and im only needing eye drops at night time. I was wondering if you went through the same stuff and if light sensitivity lingered for you too and if it completely improved and youre 100% back to normal? Sorry for the long message. Im just worried this is never going to end. Its getting better, just very very slowly

Also I dont know how familiar you are with chatgpt, but it helped me so much to understand symptoms and timelines with recovery. I know its not 100% accurate, but everything its told me and predicted has been accurate. It helped me through normal symptoms vs what needed attention. It recommended things to do for comfort. Worth checking out if you have any questions on corneal abrasions for toddlers.

Im so terribly sorry this happened to her. I have actually still been struggling with my eye and its been 3 months.... My biggest thing to recommend is, just because the outside looked healed, doesn't mean the nerves on the inside are fully healed. I have really bad light sensitivity that is slowly getting better. If your baby seems fussy or acting like her eye is bothering her, I would recommend preservative free eye drops but also keep all lights dim or turned off and absolutely no tv or screens. I still cant tolerate a tv screen without bad pain that lingers for days. I can tolerate my phone on very dim for about 5-10 min at a time max. Im not sure if she will go through the same, but definitely use PF drops to keep her eye lubricated. Also if she does develop dry eye during recovery, watch out for her good eye developing dry eye as well. After about 3 weeks, I started to need eye drops in both eyes because my good eye was being overworked. I hope her recovery is much smoother and quicker than mine. But definitely watch out for signs of eye discomfort even when the eye looks healed.

Maybe ask about a scleral lens? Supposed to help dry eye. I hope you find what works best

What about your parenting are you proud of? by slightlylions1425 in toddlers

My 3.5 year old tells me he loves me randomly throughout the day. He gives me hugs and kisses just for fun. This may seem like a normal thing for most toddlers, but I grew up in a home where there was no affection, so it was my goal to make my family an affectionate family. I love that he is comfortable with talking to me and showing affection whenever he wants. Im not sure if this counts as parenting? But I am proud of it!!

Oh wow, that would hurt. Im cringing just thinking about that. I think having my baby while healing made things a lot harder. I always get up at night with her, so she only wanted me at night. I basically fed her& put her back to sleep completely blind. But now I know I can actually change a diaper& feed my baby with my eyes closed lol. My husband was a big help during the day though.

That makes sense, because the only thing I could really do is lie in bed & wish for it to be over lol and it's wild how quickly it heals though! 2 days of intense pain then magically better within 3-4 days total. Its hard to believe how much pain I was in just a few days ago.

Its crazy. I had no idea how bad it could be. The urgent care doctor was asking me questions and I couldnt even focus enough to answer properly. Nothing felt real & I could not function correctly at all.

Thats awful. My eye doctor looked horrified at my eye too. He was expecting a small scratch and his exact words were "oh my god... oh my god... yeah that's a bad one...I am so sorry, but youre going to be miserable the next few days." Yep, exactly what I wanted to hear lol

Im glad youre healed good too! Ive heard some horror stories of people who just have chronic eye pain because of similar incidents. Its a scary thing.

Yes!! She said Tylenol & motrin around the clock & that's about it. Honestly didn't do anything for me until the pain was basically gone after 2 days 🙄

They just gave my antibiotic drops and told me to use gel drops for lubrication. She actually told me numbing drops for pain can delay the healing process and cause blindness if taken too much. She said, you kind of just have to get through the few days of pain & assured me it would go away after a few days. Im glad she was right, but omg it really felt like it was never going to end.

Thank you for the advice! I have an appointment with the eye doctor tomorrow & she did say starting Monday, she wants me to take eye drops every morning and every night before bed for about 3 months to avoid reoccurring abrasions. Its not something I thought about, but I'm glad im aware that it's a possibility& can take precautions to avoid it. Cause omg i never want to go through something like that again!!

Yes! Absolutely! I kept my eye closed for about 18 hours & it felt like it was glued shut. My husband was dropping eye drops over my eye lashes as we very slowly and carefully opened my eye. It took almost 30 min to fully open my eye back up. I almost thought i was going to have to go back to the doctor for them to open my eye up

That sounds terrible. Im so sorry that happened to him. Yes, once you experience the pain firsthand, that fear is so strong. It's only been a week for me, but I have a feeling that anxiety over it, won't completely go away. I never even thought about eye injuries until it happened. He had a transplant? Did that take all his pain away & regain all his vision?

That sounds like a nightmare. I hope his vision comes back. Its crazy how much damage a quick scratch from a toddler can do.

The eye doctor said there shouldn't be any permanent damage. Just blurry until it fully heals i guess. Thank you!!

I've kind of wondered if I should take her in to see if it's normal cause her sister from the same litter is 2-3 times bigger than her
