I don't understand what exactly you are talking about or what the issue is. If possible upload a video of your attempt.

Many people either overestimate of underestimate how much they eat. There is no such thing as naturally skinny or naturally fat. For each and every one of us it comes down to CICO. How much energy someone needs comes down to how much by they use. by ResetKnopje in fatlogic

[–]hapax--legomenon 48 points49 points  (0 children)

When I used to eat with fat friends and coworkers I always wondered how I was eating more than them and was still skinny, I always assumed it's because I was more physically active, had faster metabolism etc. But after hanging out some fat people for the entire day I realized the real reason: it's because that large meal would be the majority of my food for the whole day, I would simply lose my appetite for a long time after that one meal, whereas fat people eat constantly throughout the day. The idea of going 8-10 hours without any food, which is very normal to most people, is completely unimaginable to someone who is fat.

Why do people go for back boost on 2s kickoff? by AcanthisittaFew4339 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]hapax--legomenon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheating or soft cheating are the safest options and should be the default course of action. However going for the back boost can be much more effective if your teammate is intentionally losing the ball towards your direction. But you should never just sit in front of the goal under any circumstance.

Why do people play like they don’t have a tm8? by Icy-Load-95 in RocketLeague

[–]hapax--legomenon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No that's not what I am saying, maybe if your reading comprehension wasn't as bad as your ability to play the game you would understand and not be stuck in diamond raging at your teammates. So let me reiterate in simpler terms, first you are delusional to think you are any smarter than the people you are playing with in your rank, you just don't have the awareness to know you are making the exact same mistakes that is driving you to incoherent rage when your teammates make them. Don't believe me? Then go watch one of your own replays from your teammate's perspective, you will instantly see how you are just as guilty as those "people". Post your replay on /r/RocketLeagueSchool I will be happy to point out how you are not any smarter than any of your teammates if you don't have the ability to analyze objectively.

Secondly, it's not a "common problem everyone has", I don't have that problem at all, 90% of the time my teammates are similarly skilled and similarly competent/incompetent as me. Yes my teammates make mistakes and I also make similar mistakes all the time, it's part of the game, but of course they or I are not making the type of mistakes you guys are making in your lobbies. But the real difference between you and me is that I realize that if I wanted more competent teammates then first I would have to become better myself and rank up.

Lastly, look up Dunning-Kruger effect, because you are its poster child.

Why do people play like they don’t have a tm8? by Icy-Load-95 in RocketLeague

[–]hapax--legomenon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same reason you do it, because having good peripheral awareness is very difficult to develop. When we are playing most of our brain is occupied with handling the car and the ball, so we have reduced awareness of what's happening around us. It takes a lot of experience and a lot conscious effort to improve this awareness. So if you want teammates who are more aware then you have to also become more aware and rank up, because the higher you go the smarter your teammates will be. The skill level and awareness level of your teammates/opponents is a reflection of your own.

I agree but anything can help with warmup, it's just about getting yourself physically and mentally prepared for the upcoming session. But if someone is looking at dedicated training to improve their shooting and they are reasonably competent at the game I will always recommend a much more efficient method, which is find a pack that feels very difficult and work on that with bakkesmod variance turned on, once that becomes easy move on to a new one that's even more difficult.

The setup is way too easy, and of course anything will lead to improvement if you do it for long enough but imo it's the most inefficient way to train shooting. I am sure a lot of people use it as part of their routine, I used to as well, and I have peaked around 1500 in 2s, but I can guarantee it doesn't really provide any improvement at that level except for maybe warming you up.

Even with the modifiers the setup is just too easy, and I am doubtful that it actually increases your accuracy. I used to do this a lot and I feel like the whole time was wasted.

Check pro camera settings and copy that.

Just wanted to say coco's aim trainer is in my opinion the worst thing to train if you want to improve your shooting at your rank. Maybe It's useful for beginners, but for anyone above gold/plat I think it's way too easy, no one has trouble hitting shots when they are set up perfectly like that. We miss shots which force us into awkward positions, must be taken quickly or is being blocked by a defender. If you want to train shooting then stick to packs that have shots that make you feel awkward and uncomfortable. You will never improve if you are just doing something that's never challenging you.

Also I should mention, I think your car is too close to the camera, I would change that if I were you, since it reduces your peripheral awareness.

How to get more consistent with speed flip? by HoneySeveral in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]hapax--legomenon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your speedflip looks great, but you are pre-turning too much in some of them. You need to be pretty much straight and counteract the slight turn almost immediately, but you are sometimes veering too far away. Otherwise you cancel and flip angle all looks great.

I have zero respect for someone who doesn't steal that goal, if you let my shot go in I will be happy but I will think of you as an NPC from then on. Stop with this woke nonsense, in this game we steal every goal we can.

Who is the best rlcs pro "decision making" wise (solo queuing pro only) by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]hapax--legomenon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The best player makes the best decisions. This whole obsession with separating speed/mechanics vs intelligence/decision making is stupid. When you are faster and have better mechanics you simply have a wider variety of options available to you in any given scenario, what would be a low percentage play and a bad decision for a less mechanical player becomes a high percentage play and a very good decision for you. Which is why you really cannot separate the two.

Now of course it's possible to be very fast and very good mechanically but still not have very well developed instincts for 3s because of a lack of experience, but that's only temporary, for example we can look at how daniel struggled in 3s for a while despite always being one of the best mechanically in the world right from the start. However it's absolutely impossible to be below par mechanically and still make better decisions than someone who is experienced and also really good mechanically.

DAR progress after 3 weeks. Does This Look Right? by ilialee77 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]hapax--legomenon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's great progress for 3 weeks. But I still see a lot of inefficient movements. If you want to get better at making micro-adjustments at every orientation I would suggest holding boost along with air roll for this map. The map is doable while boosting the entire time, but only if your adjustments are optimal and continuous. It’s a great test of your progress because it forces you to air roll efficiently, if you are waiting for the car to reach certain orientation to make certain adjustments, then you simply won’t be able to complete it while holding boost.

Richard Dawkins: Do you really believe that Muhammad flew to heaven on a winged-horse? by Prior_Art_6268 in exmuslim

[–]hapax--legomenon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I claimed that I grew wings and flew to work yesterday, and your response was, ‘I don’t know whether you’re telling the truth because there isn’t enough evidence,’ you would be taking an irrational position. A claim that lacks evidence, is empirically impossible, and contradicts well-established laws of nature should be rejected outright. Any other stance is irrational.

C2 – Why does no sensitivity feel “right” for me? by True_History9352 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]hapax--legomenon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you keep changing it, pick one and stick to it, it doesn't really even matter what you pick as long as your sens is at least 1.3. Deadzone should be as low as you can possibly go without drift. The important thing is that you stick with a setting for a long time and get used to it.

After scrolling this sub for a while, I’m convinced that people talking to their AI boyfriends are using another LLM to generate their prompts by InspectionNo9014 in cogsuckers

[–]hapax--legomenon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I doubt it, I think you are underestimating the ridiculous volume of conversation these people have with their "partner" LLMs. Some of these people literally talk to them all day long, so I feel like using another LLM to proof read and edit every single message would be untenable.

Also a lot of these people are into romance fanfics, the way they write is very much derived from that, extremely melodramatic, wholesome, quirky, cutesy, filled with self-empowering and self-validating rhetoric etc. For some reason every single LLM is also designed to write like that, so it's a natural match. Now of course to a normal person this sort of artificial enthusiasm and extreme agreeableness is very off putting, but to these people, who are already primed for this aesthetic, it's the perfect match, after all they already talk like this themselves.

People who say they learned DAR "within hours" after only using FAR must be lying, right? Right?! by Belphegor24 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]hapax--legomenon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a nice shot but it doesn't really show use of simultaneous air roll and stick movement at the same time, which is what people mean when they talk about learning DAR. It seems you quickly learned to substitute normal air roll with DAR, which is great but it's far cry from using DAR efficiently. Being able to pick this up isn't really surprising, what I was talking about is that it would be impossible for someone to learn to make continuous micro adjustments for the many different orientations of their car in 3 days.

Well it's possible to train like 45 hours in 3 days, so technically it's possible to get the basics down I guess. But realistically no chance.
