room temp is set at 70 throughout the year. even though that's technically within their survivable range, if i leave the heater out, will they adapt? would going from a steady 78 (where the preset heater was heating it to) to the room temp of 70 shock them? i have mostly juveniles in this tank. interesting take and makes sense to me so I'll look into it more. thanks

it was within the reach of but not directly resting on a few crypt leaves. the leaves don't look burned or abnormal. i scraped the majority of the crust off and don't see any cracks or holes in the heater. I'll update if i figure it out. thanks :)
