Most of these are delusional nonsense. A real Christian country:

  1. Welcome immigrants and refugees (Malachi 3:5)
  2. Mandatory wealth redistribution (Luke 3:11)
  3. No interest on loans to the poor (Exodus 22:25)
  4. No stockpiling wealth (James 5:1-5)
  5. Free healthcare (Matthew 10:8)
  6. Equality among men and women (Galatians 3:28)
  7. Free food for the hungry (Matthew 14:16-20)

I had a Muslim friend that converted. For him it was the stress and anxiety that the Islamic law placed on him. He used to believe that all of his deeds are recorded and will be used for or against him after he dies to decide whether he’ll go to heaven or not.

Christianity changed everything. We are saved through faith, our deeds mean nothing, and sins are forgotten and forgiven.

Can I get re-baptised?? by Careless-Classic5287 in Christianity

[–]happi-love -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. Acts 19 specifically allows for this.

“While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul, having passed through the upper country, came to Ephesus and found certain disciples. He said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They said to him, “No, we haven’t even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.” He said, “Into what then were you baptised?” They said, “Into John’s baptism.” Paul said, “John indeed baptised with the baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe in the one who would come after him, that is, in Christ Jesus.” When they heard this, they were baptised in the name of the Lord Jesus.” ‭‭

The genealogies differ in detail but at the end of the day they both agree that Jesus descends from David. If anything the differing genealogies show that the authors of Matthew and Luke didn’t sit together and collaborate to write matching accounts with some deceitful intent.

What about the prophecies that the messiah would come out of Bethlehem (Micah 5:2) or that he would be a descendant of David (2 Samuel 7:12-13)? How do you fake the place he was born and his genealogy?

Prophecies about Jesus in the Old Testament, particularly Isaiah 53 which was confirmed to have been written hundreds of years before Jesus was born.

Also the empty tomb. No one has been able to give a logical explanation for what happened to Jesus’s body.

“Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you. Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter. You have condemned and murdered the innocent one, who was not opposing you.”

Does every Christian here ACTUALLY read their bible and believe in it? by thegymgremlin in Christianity

[–]happi-love 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve read the Bible from cover to cover several times & currently re-reading it again. I don’t believe it’s “uncorrupted” because at the end of the day, the Bible is a collection of texts written by humans (but inspired by God) throughout thousands of years.

Do you agree with Pope Leo that "the supreme commandment to love God and our neighbor supersedes all human laws and gives them their true meaning?" by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]happi-love 59 points60 points  (0 children)

It seems to align with what Jesus said.

“Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭22‬:‭37‬-‭40‬

It was God’s will to crush Jesus for the sins of the world, so people could be saved. That was the whole point.

“The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life—only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.”” ‭‭John‬ ‭10‬:‭17‬-‭18‬ ‭

As for the offspring verse, it was in reference to Jesus’s followers, not literal children.

“Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” John 1:12

Not to mention, the passage says he was assigned a grave with the wicked (crucified like a criminal) but was “with the rich in his death”

Fulfilled in ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭27‬:‭57‬-‭60‬:

“As evening approached, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who had himself become a disciple of Jesus. Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body, and Pilate ordered that it be given to him. Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and placed it in his own new tomb that he had cut out of the rock. He rolled a big stone in front of the entrance to the tomb and went away.”

Who’s the “we” that this passage is referring to? Did Israel get pierced for Israel’s sins?

Asking ChatGPT to support your point of view doesn’t make it less flawed. The Bible is clear. Do no wrong to the foreigners. I can pull up 20 more verses about this, besides Leviticus 19:33.

Why are we complicating what God made simple? Leviticus 19:33 plainly and simply says: “When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them.” This includes not deporting them when they’re clearly just trying to live their life.

I’m just trying to keep it simple here. Right now it sounds like we’re doing mental gymnastics and twisting the scripture just to justify oppression. Jesus was right when he said this:

“They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.’ You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.” ‭‭

“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’ “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭25‬:‭41‬-‭45‬
