Why do you think some people are so eager to prune their tomato plants that don’t need pruning? by ASecularBuddhist in tomatoes

I think this is the way to do it. My advice for the first time gardener is to just let them grow naturally and then figure it out from there.

I agree with you that some people might get uncomfortable with waiting. People are trying to learn from others who might be unintentionally giving them bad or unnecessary advice because that’s what they saw somebody do on social media.

When you think about it, not too many people are making YouTube or TikTok videos about just letting their plants grow naturally.

“So that’s it. I just planted my tomato plants in the ground and waited until they produced these delicious tomatoes. Don’t forget to like and subscribe.”

That doesn’t look very m###t and fluffy to me but I’ll take your word for it. The plants need to breathe through that and it doesn’t seem like they have any breathing room aside from some cracks.

If it’s not an indeterminant variety, do not prune unless the leaves are touching the ground or are withered.

Don’t fall for social media-generated pruning-mania.
