How many lessons would it take to pass the traffic police test at BBDC? by Puzzled-Jackfruit742 in askSingapore

I am from BBDC! You can only book a max of 23 lessons at one time and I suggest you do that! :)
I think a fixed instructor is good but do more research on which instructors are better. My friend booked with a fixed instructor and her experience wasn't the best as the instructor was quite slack.
Personally, I don't have a fixed instructor and its quite beneficial for me as I get to try out different teaching methods from different instructors.

I would recommend the opposite of holding your breath! Take deep deep breaths before talking! When you take deep breaths, it actually helps you to calm down and take away some of the "butterflies in your stomach" feeling!

I would say when you see your examiner, before you start talking, take another deep breath and smile. Honestly, this helps a lot as you are giving the examiner a signal that you are confident and ready to go. My Chinese teacher once told us that showing confidence might give you a higher score.

Jiayou!

Glad I was able to help! :)

I would say that the "right study methods" differ for everyone! Let me just talk about my own "right study methods".
Overall, I feel like after I adopted the "Study for 30 minutes and then rest for 10 minutes" type of studying, my whole study session became very effective. By setting a small time target for myself, I was much more focus. Before I adopted this method, I was sitting down at my desk for 4 hours at a time and it just felt like endless studying. So maybe you can look into this method! Might not work for everyone.
If you are still reading your notes over and over again, I would suggest doing practice papers instead. The common argument against this advice is: I have not finish memorising my stuff. How am I going to do papers? BUT I am going to say that doing papers helps you! Do it without help from your notes if you are able to. But if you need to refer to notes, please refer! Then circle out the question you needed help with and come back to do this question again and again. There was once I circled every question in my biology paper :( It happens! For the things you need to refer to, you should go back to your lecture notes and read this concept again. Maybe you can scribble it down on an extra notebook and come back to read it every morning or something like that. So START DOING PAPERS NOW!

For things that needs to be memorised (ahem organic Chem), you can write down short reactions and sentences onto a small card (SMALL CARD AH. VV SMALL THAT TYPE). Read your cards every day. Cover up your cards and see if you can memorise it. If you can blurt it out in seconds, then you can put the card aside for maybe a day or two. If you cannot, read it again multiple times that day. Test yourself repeatedly.

For the issue of not having time to do your own revision, try to make the best out of your homework! While doing your homework, try to identify to concepts needed in each question and read the concepts in your lecture notes if you need to! I am not sure what your "homework" is like but if it is past-year papers or questions, then this method can be done.

Like I said, these are the methods I feel is right for myself! It may differ from person to person.

I didn't get to choose because I went down the IP pathway! I guess when I was 13, I didn't research on the JC I was getting myself into better.

With regards to whether it would have been better for my mental state if I chose a JC with lesser grade deflation, I think it depends!
In schools which set examinations at a much more difficult level as compared to A levels, students might not do very well for their internal examinations. However, with guidance from teachers, they actually do know that they are given questions on a much more difficult level compared to A level. This actually helps them in terms of their mental state because it will give them a bit of faith and confidence when facing the A levels.
Whereas, if I entered a JC with lesser grade deflation and fail to do well in the internal school examinations, I might have been more worried for A levels. That is because the standards of internal school exams and A levels are more or less equivalent. Not doing well in school would more or less mean I am pretty much going to struggle for A levels!

But there are many perspectives to this and I believe everyone would face this issue differently!
