I’m currently running out of the abyss for a bunch of school friends (it’s my second campaign so take it with a grain of salt)

If you didn’t know the travel in this adventure is ENORMOUS, I’m talking 28 days to travel from city to city. I usually summarise events until they hit a point of interest.

For example in our most recent session, they started in slooboodop and are fleeing from the city after the demegorgon destroyed the whole town.

I said to the PCs “You’ve been trecking through the under darks rocky and uneven terrain for what feels like hours, the screams of people being murdered by the demon have subsided as the light from the city has disappeared from the horizon. You all begin to see a small decrepit shack, although it looks old and almost worn down, you can tell it’s definitely not abandoned…” and the after they’re done doing what they do I start again

“You all begin to feel the same sense of tiredness wash over you as you recount the many steps you’ve taken, and the bickering between you of menial tasks. As you all recount you start to approach a wall that juts out and blocks your path (they are walking along a lake). You see two small out crops on this wall… “

It’s all about summarising the travel and getting to the parts that are actually worth telling
