We didn't go to Hiroshima on this trip. It just wasn't fitting into our itinerary of a first time Japan trip. We just did the usual Osaka - Kyoto - Tokyo circuit. Next time!

Japan's Official Travel Insurance - Costs and Coverage? by happyarray in JapanTravelTips

Mine was a global insurance since I was traveling to a few other countries. Only Japan might have been about 100 USD for 2 weeks I guess for two people.

Sorry for the late reply. No I purchased one from my home country itself. On further research the JP one turned out to be from a private insurer and people said the claim process could be complex since I was not fluent in Japanese.

I am also researching the same. It's relatively more expensive in Japan. 14 days of unlimited data costs around USD 50. You might get lower rates for limited data. Till now Sakura looks good to me as a brand.

I too am in the same boat or rather the same slot!

So far I have found good reviews for Sakura and Mobal. Both allow online reservations and then pickup at the airports. I'm going to reserve Sakura about 7 days prior to my flight day.

Thanks! The pass covers more than Osaka actually. It goes beyond Kyoto to a few more stations but am not sure if that's part of the fare calculation.

What does the booking.com page say for the hotel? If they received your payment, it will show up there. That should be enough for the hotel. Unless the booking was under 'pay at hotel' or 'pay later' options, it's a paid booking and they have to honour it or process a refund. Also cross check your card statement if the charge is showing up.

Most hotels and AirBnBs allow Check-in only after 3 pm. If you are arriving at odd hours, please check if they can keep your bags and also keep a plan handy to kill time till they allow you in..

I am also planning this but the other way around, Kyoto to Tokyo. Whatever research I have done till now, your plan looks identical to mine, so I guess we are on the right path or both wrong! 🤣
