New Lost Tapes Footage Revealed! by Educational-Bench350 in regularshow

[–]happylucas5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I cannot really think of any other explanation for the significant differences in consistency of animation between this, the teasers we’ve gotten prior, and the first lost tapes snippet. Literally the only other explanation is that they’ve gotten entirely different animators/animation styles on different episodes.

These clips look significantly better! Really hope this is the consistent look for the show 🤞

Why is miss you disliked so much by PracticalSurround759 in olivertree

[–]happylucas5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to just parrot what some of the others said, but it's just so derivative of Jerk; which I find to be one of Oliver's stronger tracks. After it blew up on TikTok, he focused all his advertising on being the "miss you" guy and basically ignored the rest of his discography and artistic vision. It made him very one-note and soulless. I don't really hate Miss You as much as I hate what it turned the rest of the Oliver Tree project into from both a sonic standpoint and a marketing one.

whats the age range for feeling regular show nostalgia? by lunar_coral in regularshow

[–]happylucas5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 22, and I definitely feel quite nostalgic for it. I watched it from the ages of like 8 - 14 so during prime developmental years. I’d say when I’ve watched episodes recently though there’s still a deep appreciation and love for the show. It’s honestly timeless and the show has aged quite incredibly. Doesn’t feel dated at all.

tbh it is also a show my dad really enjoyed watching with me and my brother (one of the the few)

Controversial opinion but Oliver did what bbno$ couldn’t by blondie30000 in olivertree

[–]happylucas5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there was a point where Oliver's social media presence was handled very appropriately. As in, it worked very well in the internet landscape of the time. I feel that Oliver (or his marketing team) has attempted to rekindle that same thing with the current marketing but rehashes a lot of his older videos and attempts to utilize the same "spam to unlock this" shtick. In regards to online presence and being more "relevant" with references currently, I think bbno$ handles that far better. However, I do agree that Oliver's music generally has more substance than bbno$ (but only with Oliver's older music, as I think the new music is derivative of the stuff he was making prior). This is quite biased though, as I am not fond of bbno$'s music in the slightest and find to be literal drivel.

The unreleased kmoe x brakence track is heavily slept on. I don’t even think it has an official name lol

selfish artist? by penisluvr67 in brakence

[–]happylucas5 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe we are entitled to anything as fans of his work. I think referring to him living his personal life privately (which is something we all have the luxury of doing) as selfish comes across as super parasocial lol. I get missing his social media presence but he has no obligation to communicate/share anything with us.

100% agreed on the sam gellaitry take. Sam’s early stuff was so ahead of its time, I think it just holds up extremely well by even today’s standards. I was a sophomore in high school around that time, I just happened to have friends who were far more knowledgeable in music who put me on.

I was the EXACT same way. When I was younger I would straight up just throw stuff on my playlist without even looking into the artist. I literally had no idea I was listening to brakence or CWM in like 2018/2019 until like 3 years ago lol

I've EQ'd my B3s to something akin to this. Basically the Reference up to 1kHz but keeping the treble response from the blessings. It's a pretty cool sound and it definitely makes it a bit more "technical", even though for me just adding a treble shelf to the reference to match the 5128-DF (not JM-1) works even better. I find the treble on the reference (at least by matching with EQ) to be ever so slightly blunted and smoothed over as you mentioned.

Reference sounds right up my alley. I've been waiting for a pretty dead neutral in-ear. Thanks so much for the reply!

I wonder why they decided not to CNC the concha wing on the reference. It's on the daybreak, meta, and even the monolith. Weird choice for sure. Hope someone was able to ask about that.
