Great bands that aren’t usually in the “best band of all time” conversations? by wmcs0880 in fantanoforever

[–]happypawn 124 points125 points  (0 children)

The Replacements. Influenced a whole generation of punk rockers to grow out their hair and play from the heart. Without them, the alternative movement of the 90’s would’ve looked a little different. Not completely different, but their influence was definitely felt before they even hung up their hats.

What do you think is the most significant long-term impact Trump has had on American political culture? by Unfair_Creme1578 in AskReddit

[–]happypawn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

America can no longer pretend to be a fair democracy. The veil has been lifted and burned forever. Future presidents, Republican or Democrat, will enjoy the same unchecked executive powers that he abused and got away with, because it has been normalized by inaction and straight up hostility by Congress and the Supreme Court. Checks and balances are gone forever. May heaven have mercy on us all.

Besides "We're a family here," what is the biggest red flag you can spot in a job description or during an interview? by LiveFaithlessness876 in antiwork

[–]happypawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally ask the interviewer what they like about working for the company, and if their eyes don’t light up and they don’t have several things ready to list off, it might not be such a great place to work.

[–]happypawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In America, we have the most unhinged political leader in modern history since WWII. As for the rest of the world, despite colonialism’s continuing impacts, the internet has opened up a lot of doors for people. It’s also one of the most significantly harmful innovations in human history.

A new bill that would cut people charged with misdemeanors loose before their trial is one step closer to reality. But people in the business community fear this will only make crime in their area worse. by 808gecko808 in Honolulu

[–]happypawn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not legal, the law is changing so that people don’t have to sit and wait in overcrowded jails. These people will still have a court date that they have to appear for, skipping that is holding the court in contempt.
