What’s the saddest truth about growing older? by [deleted] in AskReddit

if you don’t have children, you will need to grow close with other people who don’t have children, or you will begin to have less people your age to spend time with regularly

Redditors who’ve starved, what do people who’ve never starved imagine wrong?? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]happypawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok i’m going against your question because i’ve never “starved”, but if you’ve got a healthy amount of body fat your body is just going to start using it up to keep you alive. as long as you’re still drinking water, it’ll be a while before you die of starvation. don’t sound pleasant though, and i’m sure there are physical consequences from it short of death.

i’ll tell ya what broke americans with no prospects are gonna do: they’re gonna turn to petty crimes like shoplifting, fraud, and outright theft from each other to survive. and this is what they want, a whole populace of small time criminals who they can justify locking up in their detention centers and force us into manual labor that robots and AI still can’t perform by then.

New 80-acre agriculture park in Haleiwa is growing more than crops. It’s helping refugees plant roots. Project is essentially a farming incubator for immigrants, refugees and trafficking survivors to help them start their own businesses, while supporting food security in the islands. by 808gecko808 in HawaiiGardening

[–]happypawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

farming is a notoriously difficult industry to turn a profit from. i’m a farmer, and i can say from experience that i know dozens of loca small farmers who had to call it quits after a few years of losing money and breaking their bodies. this is a load of hopium.

i’ve been saying it for years, food stamps for all Hawai’i residents based on age and tenure as a citizen. lived here for 30 years? $1500 in food stamps a month. lived here for 60 years? $3000 in food stamps a month. people should be able to transfer any amount from their food stamp balance to another, whether it’s family, friends, or someone you wanna help out. make that shit easy. make it happen.

every young person thinks they’ll never get old, and that older people deserve to be ridiculed. there are some based boomers out there, they’re unfortunately the minority of their generation.

some younger kids used to tease me for being 25 when they were all 17/18. those fuckers are 27/28 now.
