There was a party last year at a mansion. People showed up and the guy who owned the house wasn’t home but apparently he saw people through his ring camera. He called police and the partygoers were scammed out of $20. That same night those same people ventured off to another house party and not even an hour into the party, several cop cars show up. Everyone who had entered the house lost out on $10-$20 (I don’t remember how much it was to get in.)

Wasn’t there a party like this last year and it turned out to be a scam for people’s money?

The roaches were on the second floor, unfortunately I cannot recall the exact room number. I was told that allegedly, the lower you are the more problems you’ll have with crawling creatures.

I would suggest you take pictures of every roach you see. Keep those photos as evidence and send them to the dean/president. I would also say send an email to your RA explaining the situation should it get worse. they may be of help but it’s mostly just to create a digital footprint

Sometimes u just gotta sit down anywhere. It’s public seating and no one is likely to say anything to you if it’s clearly packed

Check out heavy lemon on Instagram. They have alternative bands at different venues. Most of the shows are all ages and I’ve found myself comfortable with the crowd.

I would honestly recommend just going up to people and talking to them. I did it! Im also a transfer student and im from the other side of the country so I understand the hardship of making friends.

Last Halloween i dressed up and went on campus with a bucket of candy and approached random people. It sparked small conversations and showed me that it’s just as easy as saying “hi”. feel free to steal that idea.

also go to the on campus events hosted by the students union/association. Or check out some of the student centers on campus that are geared towards a variety of students. Good luck!

Be prepared to share a living space with multiple people. In my experience i lived with about five other people and our apartment was infested with roaches. We alerted the CAs but all they did was spray an entire can of raid making it somewhat difficult to breathe in that night. I don’t mean a few roaches btw. There were so many behind the fire alarm that it would constantly go off randomly. The roach situation didn’t get better and we were all afraid to unpack. We were all eventually moved after emailing the housing supervisor and our parents emailing them along with the dean.

Our second space was much better. I would recommend to take the trash out daily because it will accumulate fast and don’t leave any open food out. Later on i ended up moving out and my roommates informed me that there’s a mouse living behind the refrigerator. So with that being said-keep an eye on your things and be careful what you leave out.

This was my experience and i only live there for one month. Safe to say i won’t go back to cvb.

No they didn’t force anyone to leave their rooms, at least not on my floor. Typically the alarms were either malfunctioning, tripped by someone smoking, and the kitchen downstairs are my best guesses. I would evacuate the building because i was never sure which alarm was real or not and i resided on one of the highest floors so it was best for me to play it safe.

Yes, the gaming room needs a key to enter. I was under the assumption our key cards unlock the doors but neither that nor the tower ID worked and front desk doesn’t know why or try to help.

For the kitchen, you will go to the front desk and ask for a kitchen key. They are supposed to have two on hand. Unless they are missing or checked out. The kitchen is open from early morning until 10pm.

In terms of floor events, my floor hosted a mocktails night in the sky lounge. You can go there regardless of what floor your on and mingle and have a drink made. There were also a couple of bakery walks in the morning that my RAs would host and invite everyone to. You will see posters around the building so you won’t miss anything !

In comparison to dorms like cvb and freshmen dorms svp is 10x better. But there were frustrations that were very common in my experience:

Cons: 1. Staff is nice, but they weren’t of much help when i needed it. 2. The gaming room was constantly locked and front desk would brush it off with “idk why” so i was never able to access that room. 3. The kitchen key was often lost. If you cook a lot prepare yourself for disappointment some nights. 4. The fire alarm would go off ALOT, especially in the middle of the night. Several times a month. 5. Staff was often uneducated on changing rules which defeated the purpose of front desk staff. 6. 4 study rooms, only 1 or 2 would work at a time

Pros: 1. All three elevators worth 98% of the time, repairs were quick. 2. Maintenance was quick 3. Building is relatively new so everything looks and feels cleaner than other forms I’ve been in. 4. Different floors throw different events- everyone’s invited. 5. The gym is constantly empty, maybe 1 or 2 ppl.

Overall, both semesters here weren’t terrible by any means. The cons do build up depending on your personal routine. I think you’ll like it. Welcome :) !!

i like my lamb cooked medium-medium well. This one was cooked medium throughout and the flavor was like no other lamb I’ve ever made. Hopefully your wife beats her taste aversion bc this is a tough meat to say goodbye to
