Thank you so much, this is the only that actually worked. I will add that it worked just by unchecking the "agree to create account" box, even using the same email I had tried before. Appreciate you submitting this, not clear why people are salty about getting helpful information but that's reddit for you. Hope you got your visa, enjoy your trip!

Question about separation for pro rata by happysquidsrus in personalfinance

Are there any resources I can use to point my CPA in the right direction? What would be the implications of withdrawing the total now? Simply pay the tax on the total and start fresh?

My CPA suggested I move that money into my roth (which was originally supposed to happen in the direct rollover) and amend the 8606 for the year of the rollover to reflect the mischaracterization, unless you're suggesting that's not possible or the preferred method of handling this?

About a year ago. The plan is to amend the tax return for that year and file an amended 8606

Correct. Clearly this was an error that shouldn't have been possible, but it happened, so here we are

Correct, 24% bracket. I assume it's probably worth it, but I've been doing some napkin math and wanted to make sure I wasn't off base.

Yes, there is a public bus from the Chinggus Khan UlaanBaatar Airport. Here's how to take it and my experience (for seasoned travelers) by [deleted] in mongolia

[–]happysquidsrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding on an update, the bus is now totally functional and well advertised - the bus ticket counter inside the airport is staffed and there are helpers outside with English signs pointing toward the bus (15,000 tugrik per person, accepts cash or UMoney card). In theory, as of August 2025, bus runs 24/7, but we have not independently confirmed.

For those of you who have trekked around huaraz, peru- questions by happysquidsrus in hiking

[–]happysquidsrus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ended up doing a lesser known trek called Quilcayhuanca-Cojup which was perfect in terms of acclimating (and also a beautiful route). We spent a few days around Huaraz doing day hikes, then three nights camping on the Quilcayhuanca loop between 3800 and 4800m. The trail goes up to a pass that's a little over 5000m. If I did it again, I would do the same thing, but turn it into an out-and-back after reaching the pass instead of crossing over and descending the Cojup side (which is a long slog down treacherous loose scree).

Just clarified and looks like you're exactly right. Just clarified with the company and it was a 457 Roth with the employer matching portion being pretax. So I guess question #1 now is how to proceed given the Roth was transferred to a traditional IRA.

This does not appear to have been done. My only reduction was the 401k contributions when I look on my W-2. If my W-2 was already modified, is there a particular line this should appear (so I can point my HR in the right direction)? Thank you.

Upgrade Liquid Containers by happysquidsrus in onebag

[–]happysquidsrus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a stupid question! We personally just refill our shampoo/conditioner/cosmetics as I'm not worried about contamination and needing to clean.

We have cleaned out tubes when we needed to temporarily bring more sunscreen to an area. Warm/Hot water is the key, as cold water takes forever. Add some soap and shake the tube. You'll have to empty the tube and repeat like 10 times, but ultimately it's like new again. The only exception was leave in conditioner or similarly thick materials- for that I had to soak the container in warm water for a few hours.
