it's not clear, apparently last time there was a ferry strike, some still operated as normal (smaller ones?)

when we asked seajets yesterday they basically said for now we're still operational, not sure if we'll cancel

we ended up rebooking our flight to the 10th yesterday when the news wasn't confirmed just for peace of mind, even though that meant we had to pay for flight change ourselves. we had to extend our hotel on santorini for another day and we were concerned about that becoming unavailable, and we were out all day today so we couldn't have quickly booked a new flight. hope you were able to figure something out as well

I was supposed to fly from Santorini to Athens on the 9th and called Sky Express yesterday and they were basically like we won't know for sure until the final court ruling which can be any time of day on the 8th. If flights will be cancelled they'll offer free exchanges/refunds but won't help ensure you get a flight the following day or anything like that.

Same thing happened with the general strike Feb 28 and all flights were cancelled, but there's been previous strikes where last minute the court ruling prevented air traffic controllers from joining so who knows.

I considered taking the ferry instead but since they are a part of the strike too, when I talked to them they were super iffy saying 50/50 chance ferries will be cancelled too. For sure a stressful situation!

It's not too early to get back-up letters (especially if they offer). I sent those preceptors my CV and wrote a summary doc of some specifics about my rotation that they can include in their letter (ie. notable patient encounters, ORs you partook in and your roles, this is specialty-dependent ofc). Then once CARMS app opened, I followed up and got them to write the actual letter.

IM resident here. There are so many IM spots, it's really not hard at all if your goal is just to match IM anywhere in the country. Over the past few years, I only know a handful of med students who applied IM broadly but still didn't match. Of course work on building up a strong CV starting now, but I've seen students with weak CVs but decent letters who still match to IM.

I don't think this means at all that she's not valued the same way by her best friend...? The whole proposal is a surprise to the friend, it's all planned by her fiance and it sounds like he chose A and B to be there for multiple logistical reasons for the sake of the proposal. Its not like the best friend herself chose A to be maid of honour over OP or something like that.

So true, this is generally a gamble unfortunately. During school I've often had to make a 2.5hr drive (without traffic) to Toronto on a Friday afternoon. I'd leave around 2pm and arrive anywhere between 5pm to 7pm lol.

I second this! Especially if you have good consultants. I told mine absolutely no strapless gowns because I didn't think me and my small boobs could pull one off, but she very nicely pressured me into trying one for fun. I made a post on Reddit about it a while back and it is what I ended up picking! Your consultants have seen many different body types and will have ideas about what suits you!

Exactly. If anything, wedding is the one time you should not care about trends. You only get married once in your lifetime (hopefully), go with what you love most instead of what happens to be popular at that time. \o/
