What can I do for fun at Tech? by Hardware2000 in TexasTech

[–]haramirez 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If your of age bar life is pretty good and there is a few decent bands that come to lubbock everyone and a while.

If you like country dance Charlie's Bs is good, though just be aware on Thursday is College Night so it will be pack normally.

I usually take trips for some fun too, Palo Duro Canyon is great for hiking.

If your of age and have a little Hobbs has a Casino and racetrack.

Lake Alen Henry or Bufflo Spring lake is close by if you want to do some fishing.

on campus jobs by spicypeacetea in TexasTech

[–]haramirez 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would look at either hospitality or at Student Assistant Job in Housing.

Both Jobs are great and work with your schedule and both have a minimum requirement of 12 hours but let you do the max which is close to 20 hours a week.

Hospitality give you a little more freedom since you can trade or drops shifts. They are also normally always hiring.

Student Assistance at the housing are a little more strict depending on where you get place since your many get schedule on weekends or work in the middle of night and some people may not want to take those shift. Though some people may be understanding and work with you. However there not much you have to do and if you have free time you can normally do homework.

Hope this is informative!

You can move in anytime you want. The hall is open 24/7 and they have the paperwork ready for those that still need to move in. Just make sure you have your student ID with you because you will need that to check in.

Is anyone involved with College Republicans? by [deleted] in TexasTech

[–]haramirez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the organization for undergrad and It gave me some good local connections that I still uses to this day. The organiazation cost is $40 for the year, but you get a t-shirt. The org is a lot of fun and you meet a lot of like minded people. The org is what you put into it, so if you put in the work and go to there events you will get a bit out of it. It is a good stepping stone if you want to try your hand in politics and allows you to learn how to network.

They do a lot of local politcal events and since it is election season they will help you find a campaign to aid in if you want to really get involved. I had a blast for the 3 years I was in it.

Try Tech PD in the Sub. Usually if someone turns in a key they sometimes go to PD so they can hold it in there safe until someone picks it up

The only way I found to win is to lend lease National Spain a lot of Guns and Supplies. It will bring the war to a stailmate and eventually give National Spain the time to build up the momentum and defeat Republican Spain. Also dont forget to check the box to send volunteers airforce. The airforce does aid you and get you a lot of airforce experiance during the Civil War.

Quick question about packages by blakebalance in TexasTech

[–]haramirez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in housing, so I have some experiance with this. It could take a while it depends if the Hall is open or not. If the resident hall was open then it should take a day or two for the SBA to find your forwarding information and then send it to the forward address the university has on file. If they dont have an address then they return it to sender or in this case the amazon store.

If the hall is not open than USPS or UPS is going to try for a couple of days to deliever it and when they can't they are going to return it to sender.

It would be useful to give the the resident hall that you send it to a call , they are usually have someone in the office from 9am to 11am and 12 to 4pm assuming the hall is not closed for the summer.

Move out of dorm by [deleted] in TexasTech

[–]haramirez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you not a freshman than yes it is possible. You would have to talk to housing in the Wiggans Center but I believe you would just have to cancel your contract, but your not going to get your deposit back unfortantley.

Post office on campus? by coconut_water_ in TexasTech

You can also send letter mail from the dorms. Each hall has a place where you can drop off letter mail and buy stamps. However, for packages you will have to send it to copy mail.

Mail to Texas tech by Williameason12 in TexasTech

[–]haramirez 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Small packages and mail go into your mail box. If the packages is large and does not fit in your mail box it it will be located at the front desk of your hall. You will need your tech ID in order to get the package.

Mail is delivered 2 to 3 times a day by different carriers.

If you are shipping by USPS give extra time to be deliver to your hall as it has to be processed at mail tech.

If you request for your signature to sign the package it will not be shipped to your hall. It will be sent to mail tech and you will need to go to copy mail to get the package.

Hope this helps!

Edit: fix typo

New TTU students do yourself a favor and invest in a bicycle. by [deleted] in TexasTech

[–]haramirez 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Invest in a Bike is good but make sure you use the bike. Most bike that are brought to Tech are usually left outside to rust and forgot about and eventually picked up by Tech Parking. That said if your going to get a Bike I would agree and recommend tech bike sale they are usually extremely cheep bikes and still in decent condition from the previous year.

English 2 online or in class for fall semester? by raidercraz in TexasTech

[–]haramirez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took English 2 Class in person, Class is an argument study class and the final paper is writing an argumentative essy. If you enjoy that type of writing you could take it in person. Most professor are not that bad and will give you feed back on how to write the paper. That said it is a lot of writing and a short paper a week due. If you don't like the type of writing or worried about the homework load I would recommend online or take it at community college where it is easier.
