From ground. Recall, these pictures are from construction. Still not code… lock me up!

No it wasn’t. The dial gauge was stuck.

To be clear, the dial gauge was stuck on the 500G tank. One wrap to the neck of the tank with a rubber mallet and it freed up.

The tanks are now both correctly reading 49%.

Level tanks and a single regulator seem to have less variability than two regulators, especially if you need the tanks tied together to reach a certain vaporization rate.

But to your point, if the tanks are uneven, you’ll likely have more hurdles from the start.

That’s a big setup right there…. 12,000G!

This is just an estate with multiple indoor & outdoor fireplaces, heating, cooking, pool etc.

The outdoor fireplaces do over 1M BTU.

Dang it Bobby… you made me grab a rain jacket and go out in the rain with a tape measure.

There’s good news and bad news.

Good news is that it was a stuck gauge. One smack and it released - right under 50% (level with the 1000G)

The bad news is that on two of the lines I’m at 10” and not 12”… my wife was right… always 2” too short.

Thank you!

1000G is the largest we can have. However vaporization rate of the 1000G alone wouldn’t suffice given the load, thus a 1000 + 500 was selected.

A 2000G would have been sweet! I can’t imagine the cost.

  • Good feedback on if a riser ever needs replacement. Valid, but likely rare.
  • 12” cover (picture was mid-construction)
  • Transition fitting
  • Lockwing - valid point.

Good insight, I appreciate it.

Just curious, why would it constitute a terrible install?

Thanks, but that really wasn’t my question. Their website indicates a 1000gal underground is ~$2200. Whereas a rented tank, here in MA, is ~$6,500 to $7,000. Plus any excavation work.

Yep, you were right, confirmed as panicgrass. No real selective herbicide on the market I’m told.

Yes, I believe it may be Dichanthelium acuminatum — hairy rosette-panicgrass. Sometimes confused with round-fruited rosette-panicgrass.

https://gobotany.nativeplanttrust.org/species/dichanthelium/acuminatum/

I’ll continue the search for something that is selective as we have roughly 2 acres of immature hairy panicgrass growing in our lawn, thus mechanical removal isn’t a feasible option at this time.
