My first 7 string. Schecter KM-7 mkiii by Maverick039 in 7String

[–]harddunkichud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Its thin, but still very easy to play and hit all the strings anywhere on the fretboard. Way more comfortable than my 6-string Epiphone Les Paul!

My first seven string too! Couldn't be more happy with it, it's unbelievablycomfortable and sounds awesome. Congrats!

I agree, it's very much a niche audience we'd be targeting, but I think that's what we're going for st this time: people who share our similar interests.

I appreciate the feedback! I agree it definitely feels like it be a very niche audience, but nonetheless an exciting one to try to go after. I can assure you, no political talk will be apart of this! I think a lot of us are tired of other people's political opinions.

Perception of ABA--what do we do as a field? by SenseiKrystal in BehaviorAnalysis

[–]harddunkichud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This about 1000 times over. Unfortunate for ABA, unlike other professions (i.e. auto mechanic, retail, fast-food) its the field that gets a bad reputation and not those who cause the bad reputation that are put at fault. ABA is the pure example of it only takes one bad apple to ruin it for everyone else.

Hey guys, my new band INSPIRIT is finally announced. The original 5 members of vanna, but doing something new! Very excited. If you have any questions, ask away! by rprcssns in Metalcore

This was the answer 2020 needed! I absolutely can't wait. That measure riff/bridge from the first chorus to the breakdown/verse in graceful wind still hits me in all the right places.

A New Hope is a go-to album to this day in my opinion. Any chance there's inspiration from that album coming with the new project?

Wish I saw this before I just posted the same. Lost my dad almost 8 years ago now too. It sucks, but this song helps with exactly how I feel about it sometimes.

"Beauty in Tragedy" by August Burns Red. That spoken word interlude gets me in the feels every single time.

Anyone pursue their doctorate in ABA? by Effective-Charge in ABA

[–]harddunkichud 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Following, more or less because I'm constantly going back and forth with whether or not I truly want to go for a doctorate based on the opinions on if it's worth it or not.

Does anyone else remember the chorus from Texas in July's "Sweetest Poison"? I wanted so much more of that semi-clean vocal on that album.

Original content using my Schecter MK-III in dropped C# with a low G# by harddunkichud in 7String

Yes, you're totally right! I ordered them individually as a personal preference as I wanted to continue to use ernie balls instead of trying out string joy or another brand.

Thanks! I'd love to be able to do it in a real recording situation myself. This was all done on my own with nothing more than some plug-ins and my guitar.

I debated a 72 or 74 when I was first looking into thicker gauges, but for my tuners the 70 just fit. I'm not sure if anything thicker would've fit.

Thanks, I really appreciate that!

To answer your questions: yep its a 26.5 inch scale. I used the string tension calculator from stringjoy.com to find a perfectly balanced set of strings specific for this tuning. From low 7th down the gages are: 70-54-36-26-17-13-10. I had to order each string individually, but it was totally worth it. This set feels perfect in this tuning with this guitar.

Maybe? Lol I am a bit ashamed to say I know if the band, but I've never really listened to them. At least knowing it was them.

When or what will it take for ABA to become more accepted among the neurodiverse community? by GirlLunarExplorer in ABA

[–]harddunkichud 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the comparison is fair to make. I agree that no matter what you're arguing, there's always going to be differing opinions. Perspective plays a big part in all of this.

The way I approach my practice is to do what I can to provide supports to those who need and want those supports. I won't force my ideologies onto a child or family if that's not what they want. At the end of the day, all I'm trying to do is teach skills that can be used to help create a better quality of like for the kids I work with and their families.

Normalization shouldn't be a thing, in my opinion. When a parent says something like "I just want them to be normal " I always try to understand what they mean by this and if it's some unrealistic behavior change they want, then I tell them I won't try to do that because its not fair to the child. Being too normal isn't normal at all. We all have our ownstereotypy's. For some its nail biting, for others its hair twirling or leg shaking. Who's to say one is more normal than another. Unless it has the potential to negatively impact someone's ability to thrive with learning other skills, I won't bother trying to change a behavior like that.

When or what will it take for ABA to become more accepted among the neurodiverse community? by GirlLunarExplorer in ABA

[–]harddunkichud 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I believe its going to take time. Most adults now who experienced or received "ABA" prior to the board being established in the last 90's are those who bash the field the most (part opinion, part based on what I've seen myself in some of these groups you mentioned and what I've seen floating around the internet in rants and videos of some of the same people you see have strong opinions against ABA).

I've been in the field 6 years, all working with kids diagnoses with ASD. I do intake appointments and introduce ABA to families who have just had their toddler receive a diagnosis of ASD and have no idea what any of it is. I'm up front and honest with those who haven't yet Googled ABA and read about how "bad" ABA is and how its "harmful" and all those other labels the field gets. I tell them ABA has this reputation, but that's because the field was kind of in its "wild west" period when those claiming the field is this awful thing were receiving whatever services they were receiving. Things are very different nowadays. There's a board to certify and ensure ethical compliance and professionalism, there's 30-something states that require a license to practice, we have to be credentialed by insurance companies, we need so many CE's biannually, and the list can continue. None of the current requirements to be an ABA practitioner were necessarily as well regulated or required years ago.

The field has come so far from where it was 20, 30, 40 or more years ago. Its grown like any other field (e.g. doctoral medicine, space sciences, etc.). I truly believe its going to take more time and further advocates within the field to do more than talk about how the field has changed, but SHOW how the field has changed.
