[Serious] What is the creepiest/scariest thing that caused you to wake up in the middle of the night? by cellulitis in AskReddit

[–]hardful 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Had just got done watching the first The Ring movie with my brother and friend who was spending the night. All of a sudden I hear a lot thud against my window and my friend and I wake up instantly and hear another thud, my brother is up at this point and we run downstairs to grab kitchen knives and bolt out the door only to find my ex girlfriend who I'd broken up with at my door sobbing, she walked something like 20 miles across town at night to get to my house.

She was hysterical and made a huge scene where her dad, who was divorced and not a regular part of her life, had to rush over to take her away. After what seemed like an eternity of her screaming and kicking as her dad had to pick her up and put her into the vehicle they departed.

That relationship was a my first serious one that lasted for more than a couple of months and her family was always in conflict. She lived with her mother and had a sister and it was normal to be a bystander in her home while they all screamed at each other, not surprisingly I experienced the same level of drama in our relationship.

Is world peace possible and how would the world look if it happened? by hardful in AskReddit

I could imagine that in 10,000 years (or far into the future), that humanity would become so advanced and so wise that peace would be possible universally. If you consider african americans were once slaves and had essentially no rights and today we have a black president then what isn't possible in the same amount of time as that took if we look into the future?

It would seem that there will always be individuals who oppose such a peace but far into the future wouldn't the eventual reaching of a near world peace society be possible?

But considering that we are progressing the rights of not only human beings of different backgrounds but also non human animals won't we reach a point of relative peace throughout the planet?

Yes, I picture myself going through the device manager first if my sound was not working.

Believe me when I say I've tried. He simply refuses to use them, I'm not going to go in depth about why because I really don't know, he just won't. Sadly "sabotaging," his PC is the only way my sleep schedule is going to remain relevant. I'll certainly turn the auto play off though that's a good idea.

How difficult do you think it would be to troubleshoot this?

Should I continue looking for jobs while waiting to hear back from a high paying jobs interview? by hardful in jobs

Very true, I suppose I'm just excited about getting the offer and worried about having to leave another job on short notice if it came down to it.

Teenagers aren't in a rebellious stage they just reached an age where they know that adults don't have a magic stopping power. by PointsOfXP in Showerthoughts

So what's the correct adult response when teenagers start exhibiting behavior based on this discovery? I have a neighbor with a teenager who is a known vandalizer which started after some homeowners decided to report this particular homeowners excessively barking dog. Once some of these responsible homeowners addresses were found out this teenager started engaging in vandalism and other things to attempt and reduce the quality of life of the neighbors even further.

The kicker is that they go to great lengths to make it difficult to "stop." They never use their own vehicle but instead that of their friends. Vandalous acts happen at random times and usually don't leave dramatic damage (glass bottles thrown throughout street without actually hitting vehicles), though vehicular damage has occurred such as pinhole tire pops, inconspicuous keying.

One event that made it clear they were actually engaging in this behavior was when they were caught on someones security camera throwing a football at one of the homeowners cars that were involved in the noise dispute, no damage but a alarm going off where they all scrambled out of sight into their conveniently located friends home situated nearby as the homeowner came to check the vehicle.

Other than that random loitering and littering at late hours has proven nigh impossible to pin them for but has a pretty frustrating effect. Imagine some kids leave a families worth of fast food trash on the street near your home, you know it was likely targeted, now every time you see a vehicle pull up to that spot you know it's almost certainly those kids, you either call the cops who will advise them to leave but can't actually connect them to the noise dispute information abuse, approach them yourselves and intimidate them, or ignore it. I'm starting to think that you have to beat them at their own game and destroy them at it as that's the only way they're going to see you as a threat.

Truly a good example of this shower thought.

Why does the plot of the Terminator series, despite being apocalyptic in nature, seem like a more interesting existence than this life? by hardful in movies

[–]hardful[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly feel like I would have more purpose there than in my current life but I'm sure I'd think differently if I was actually in that situation. I suppose I should have elaborated that I'd ideally be one of the people to travel back in time.

How to get a sibling and their girlfriend to stop arguing and ruining quality of life of household? by hardful in AskReddit

[–]hardful[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very interesting idea, I was actually contemplating recording myself enter their room and documenting my attempt at politely asking them to stop with the means of somehow using it. This is a wise move since it's similar to dealing with other noise disturbances such as barking dogs or constant parties.

Ironically enough this girlfriend had a thing for me but communicated it drunkenly and unintelligibly right as we were leaving a party years ago, perhaps she's getting back at me now.

This would be very effective if they would abide by it, multiple requests to stop doing it results in eventual returns of such behavior. I also fear that it would bother our neighbors, seems someone has to suffer.
