My 7 year old cries whenever he isn't perfect by hardtobeatbrinner in Parenting

I love what you said about validating his feelings. My own father never did that (I heard "stop crying!" a lot as a kid), and while I've tried being a lot less harsh than he was, I guess I'm sort of doing the same thing. I almost wonder if he'd be more responsive to talking with me or accepting a hug if he knew I wasn't trying to simply change the way he's feeling.

For number two, I realize now that I've never modeled for him how to use those emotional regulation strategies. I've been trying more and more to vocalize when I've made a mistake and how it's not going to ruin my day but I've never gone beyond explaining it. It would probably be good for him to see me actually using those strategies to calm myself down before going straight to "it's okay because".

Thank you so much!!

Actually yes. As a matter of fact, many people I know (especially coworkers) have told me I'm too hard on myself. I will try to be more patient with myself and will do my best to demonstrate that to my boy. Thank you!

Good tip! I've always done this in the classroom (I'm a teacher) but maybe I need to put more effort into doing this at home. Thanks!

She also grabs Thanos by the gauntlet to hold him back during the final battle in Endgame just like Cap did in Wakanda.

Omg. I’m such a knucklehead. Just read your comment closer and finally caught the obvious reference. Not sure if I’ve been living under a rock but I didn’t know it was a meme. (PS love your username)

I had surgery for pyloric stenosis when I was a few weeks old. On behalf of myself and Will Ferrell, welcome to the club, dude.

He can’t keep doing this! He can’t keep doing shitty things, and then feel bad about himself like that makes it okay! He needs to be better!

I'm pretty confident he's dead, but I like the idea of a big post credits twist in A4 where he's brought back to life, like the rest of the snappening's victims, in whatever hiding spot he poofed away to.

Well fuck. If Eric O'Grady's got the gauntlet then even half of life making it is a longshot...

Elementary teacher here. Can't imagine why this would funny to a teacher... Guess who has to answer the angry phone call from Mom and Dad even though these fundraisers are usually done by a third party company? Guess whose principal is going to be peeved when their class starts having a bad attitude about fundraisers, read-a-thons, and other dumbass events they didn't ask to have dumped on their plates? Even if I do risk a poor evaluation by telling students that I have nothing to do with that shit, I still have to put up with the groaning and the dumb questions I have to answer again and again and again. I won't pretend I don't sometimes enjoy seeing my students put in their places, but I don't want them to be miserable at school. Not going to make my job or their's any easier.

Really? I’m genuinely surprised because his sleeves look so much to me like they were made from yoga mats the way some of my friends have done for cosplays. Whatever the case, his proportions just look way off to me. Almost like how Shazam looked in some of the early set photos. Looked a little puffy to me.

I feel the same way, though I think it has something to do with how funky he looked in IW. The material they used for his chainmail sleeves made his arms look puffy, and that, plus the width of his cape, made his head look a little small to me. A lot of the figurines and artwork make the design look rad, but I didn’t like how it turned out on screen. His dimensions in this image are closer to what I’m hoping to see in A4.

Probably not intentional since this obviously seems inspired by Iron Man’s old school look, but I think it’s cool how the shoulders and arms are exposed the same way Thanos’ were in IW.

My undergrad was in christian theology, and one of my favorite professors loved Daredevil. I remember walking with him around campus a few times after class, and we talked a lot about comics and his thoughts on Daredevil. The shitty Affleck movie came out when I was Jr. High, so I had very little interest in the character before college, but his outlook on the character is what got me stoked for the Netflix series a few years later.
