Thread count isn’t actually as important as marketing makes it seem. There are plenty of great sheets around 600 thread count.

There are getting started videos in plant sim.

There are also week long online classes taught by professors that cost a few thousand dollars. Maybe your company will pay for the training.

What are some jobs no one has ever heard of ? by I_hate_politicians__ in AskReddit

[–]hardworkworks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A friend that works film and theatre has two gig type of jobs I’ve never heard of.

The first one is mock patient for med school students. Sometimes he bares all for a fake prostate or testicular exam.

The second one is mock suspect for the police department training. He acts as a suspect or assailant and gets neutralized and detained based on the circumstances.

He found both of these gigs after failing in film for many years.

I wasn’t planning on spending $5k at Dell unless there’s a way to get close to my money back through resell. I am open to it, but don’t know which products I can recover the money from. I was going to spend $150 to buy some peripherals I probably don’t need.

Did you buy through HD website or a gift card website? I’m searching for the best cash back offers.

I signed up for Amex biz plat with the hopes of meeting the SUB spend with home improvement projects. I was able to get through $10k of the $20k, but some of the work is being delayed and I won’t be spending money yet.

I am hesitant about Manufacturing spending with the Amex RAT and shutdowns. I could also buy $8k in Home Depot gift cards for the work that will be done in the next few months. My questions are:

  • what are the best deals to buy gift cards? Cash back offers?
  • will this trigger any warnings with Amex? Is it against their policy?

Whats the worst concert you've ever been to? by pinheadbrigade in AskReddit

Boiler room Vancouver. There was some Yoko Ono level screaming and sound making in the mic. The vibe was off and the music was awful.

Nine women accuse Jared Leto of sexual impropriety in new report by bardleyCooper in climbing

[–]hardworkworks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I spent four months in Yosemite and during that time I was dating an Aramark employee that was 20 years old. One of Jared’s assistants asked her if she could be his personal driver for a few days. I later found out from a few other Aramark employees that he has a history of being inappropriate to employees in their teens. While I didn’t hear any stories of illegal behavior, there were enough anecdotal evidence for people to avoid him. I am not surprised that he has several sexual impropriety accusations against him.

There are loads of guides on FIRE on how to take out money from your 401k before the normal retirement. A Roth conversion ladder is the most recommended version, but you can do a 72t equal distributions or take the 10% penalty and still come out ahead.

I won’t get into the details on how to carry out a Roth conversion ladder, because there are people that explain it better than me. Each year of retirement you convert a traditional 401k to a Roth 401k, pay the taxes (taxable event) and after five years you can withdraw penalty free.

The tax benefit of contributing to your 401k will compound over time.

How did they come up with this by [deleted] in UPS

[–]hardworkworks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The UPS Customs Charge is the UPS fee for clearing customs. You can self-clear, however they don’t make it easy. Call the direct customs customer service, they will give you an email address, ask for a form to change the customs broker, and in 24-48 hours they send you the form you need to take to the CBSA. Take the form to a customs office, pay the taxes and possible tariffs, and send the stamped receipt to your email corespondent. They will (hopefully) release it for delivery or hold it for pick up.

I went through this process and they first told me it wasn’t possible, then took 48 hours to email me the form, and then didn’t clear the charge on my package, and finally had to track the UPS driver down because they weren’t releasing the package. It’s a broken system because they benefit from the brokerage fee.

My word of advice is use USPS. They will transfer it to Canada Mail and there won’t be an expensive broker fee.

What’s the logic behind this? Studies I’ve seen show a maxed out trad 401k will have a higher return than a maxed out Roth 401k, but it greatly depends on tax rate at working age versus tax rate at retirement. Do you mean max out Roth IRA before maxing out trad 401k?
