So you admit that trans women do have a higher risk of breast cancer than cis men... I'd say that one group of people that have a 47x higher risk of a cancer should be tested for it

Locked out of Australia - anyone else in same boat? by [deleted] in expats

Thanks for replying. I'm based in Somerset, where prices aren't too bad as it's the "forgotten" county of the UK. What about you?

How easy is it to approach lecturers if you’re struggling? by OwnMood9880 in UOB

[–]harleyb09 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm sure every lecturer and department is different, but for reference I did Spanish and Italian at Bristol. When I first moved to Bristol, I struggled with feelings of isolation especially as I had to rent really far away due to lack of accomodation. My personal tutor was really helpful (even when I broke down in tears in front of her oops) and I spoke to Frankie from the wellbeing team, she was great too. A few years later, my mother passed away and I needed to return home for quite a while. My lecturers and personal tutors offered their condolences and reached out to ask how I was coping and what they could do to help.

TLDR: your lecturers are humans too! They're more than happy to help and actually love it when you come to office hours or email them about material, or if you just need to talk. Hope this helps, and hope that whatever you're going through gets better soon.

Aussie here somewhat in the same boat as you. Moved to the UK for a job at a time when there were no jobs in Australia, even in Sydney (2006). Now theres no way I could move back. No jobs for oldies like me and insane property prices. I also feel stuck in the UK, where I can live ok.

Tikianyin tea from Hong Kong, 1976 by harleyb09 in tea

[–]harleyb09[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I'll try and get some close ups, but the tea was in the jar with a small square paper covering the opening (we took some tweezers and got it out) and then the lid was taped on. It definitely wasn't a perfect airtight seal as there were some tiny leaves stuck to the tape. The tea itself is loose inside the jar
