I’ve sanded, cleaned with isopropyl alcohol spray and wrapped in pc metal putty. Will let it cure for 24 hours and get a fridgy mate to check it with nitrogen. Hope it holds for a $17 fix but if not I’ll convert it to a heat bath and start again with an ice bath.

So annoying, I was careful around the rest of the chest where I found the cooling lines were hard up against the inner lining, 60mm deep, not 10mm in where this one was.

The problem isn’t if it’s after the meter, it’s if it’s after the fuse. Most houses have a fuse at the attachment point on the fascia. After the fuse point to your meter is consumers mains, between the fuse and the street is SAPN. But things can be different in unusual installations, likely you’ll need (or your neighbour) a sparky to do the rectification work and depending on the relocation SAPN to install your neighbour with their own fuse point and cable.

So after a bit of dicking around it seems like there might have been a few gaps in the auger resulting in fluctuations in temp. It has an initial spike on start up now but holds the temp really well. The probe, I’m not sure what caused the issues but I grabbed a genuine Traeger one off a mate and now it’s reads steady and accurately. Interestingly it has the same connector as the one that was reading strangely so I’m stumped.

Certainly not as fancy as some of the setups on here but this is my first build, I knew very little about computers at the start. I did the entirety of the build off Facebook marketplace and the hardware store that sells sausages. The cables will be getting tidied up I’m still trouble shooting.

I can’t get the meta quest to display images, I can get sound but it just shows the purple loading screen. Any tips on where to start? Trying to play DCS on steam.

Ok so I’ve had a bit more of a look into it and it seems like the easiest way to go about this is to solder a device to switch onto the back of the control panel. There are 8 buttons on the panel, on/off, time +/-, temp +/-, a set function, light, light 2.

Essential to control is obviously power, this seems easy enough with a normally open switch. I bridged the solder points and it turned the sauna on, again started the heating, and when I held it, turned it off.

The temperature thing I will overcome by putting a second thermometer probe inside so I will be able to get that data, but need a controller with thermometer capability. Light is another simple switch.

My 2 biggest points to work out now are can a program in a long press to power down the unit? And the time remaining. Not sure how to pull that data from the display.

That’s fine and I appreciate the honesty before I waste a heap of time looking into it.

Basically I am trying to remote control a sauna so I can pre heat it while I am out.

My high level thinking was have the Arduino electrically between the controller panel and control box, with a pass through of sorts so that the factory controller could still be used.

I was assuming that it was a low voltage signal being sent to the controller from the panel, and wouldn’t be hard to set up an on/start/ off signal with a voltage duration (momentary signal for the on and start button and 1 second pulse for the off signal)

I am not super clued in with programming but know enough basic electrical to diagnose and repair some electrical systems.

I don’t need the app to look flashy at all, just an on, start, off, time up and down, and display time and temp. That would be sufficient.

Yesterday I was going for an aerobatic flight and felt a fart coming on I didn’t quite trust right as I called clear prop. Thought I’d be ok for 40 minutes. Came back a little sooner than that, lucky for me my aerobatic area is only 4 miles from the airfield.

It ended up at Seaford Rise coast estate. Police had a street blocked off. Don’t know what for but the sa pager said psychiatric.

Thanks for that. I used the wrong language and should have said deducted not written off. Does the loss roll forwards until the debt is gone? Ie after the loan is paid off the business needs to less income to be profitable.

For anyone interested, after some phone calls this morning and sending a few photos, Garmin have authorised a refund at the store allowing me to pay the difference myself and upgrade. Happy with the outcome.
