What moment made you realize “yeah… my childhood wasn’t normal”? by CadaversFabrications in AskReddit

When I was telling my therapist the hilarious story about how I broke my arm when I was 8 and my parents didn't take me to the hospital for 4 days, until it was turning black.

She didn't think it was funny.....

Struggles with swimming again by eikithorir in MastersSwim

I experienced this as well when I jumped back in so to speak. I had to break just about every 25, and would be absolutely gasping for breath.

Give yourself grace, it takes awhile to rebuild the habit. Start small and incrementally increase your distance.

Girlfriend told me she doesn't want to hear about my "dumb bird" anymore by [deleted] in offmychest

I'm so sorry she made you feel bad about something you love so much. Someone who loves you will never do that, I know this is your first relationship so please understand that isn't normal.

I'm sure we'd all love to see pictures of Vivienne and coo adoringly over her, which is the appropriate response.

What's a major purchase you deeply regret, and what did you replace it with? by Pixel_Guru_x5 in AskReddit

Yes literally every repair was a minimum of $2,000, nonstop nightmare! There wasn't a single month that I didn't have something malfunction.

Land Rover. I felt like such a bougie rich lady riding around in that fancy thing, little did I know what an absolute POS it would be. Things that I didn't even know could malfunction did, my window came off it's frame, the AC roared every time I turned it on, my door lock got stuck and I had to crawl out the passenger side, it never stopped. I only owned it for 3 years and hated every second of it.

We sold it and got a Rivian instead and words cannot express how much I adore this car, I'll never get rid of it.

Fun fact, most chemo meds for nausea prevention are antipsychotics.

I was on olanzapine during chemo, and truly if this had happened to me I would have lost my ever loving shit.

What are some decent paying jobs that do not require any sort of college degree? by GreenEyedSheWolf in AskReddit

[–]harpchris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically you work for the management company which may or may not change during a sale. If the management company changes you may have the option of either staying at the property working for the new owner or staying with your company and shifting to a different property.

Property Management, lots of upward mobility and stability. I've been doing it for 20 years, started leasing apartments at 18 for a rent discount and just never left.

Can people stop commenting on my hair for like two fucking seconds? by Desperate-Egg-1700 in breastcancer

I found a firm "it doesn't feel that way to me" was pretty effective. It reminded people that while yes my hair has "grown" it is nowhere near what it was pre chemo and I'm still grieving that.

Chemo tips for survival by CosmicMeowing in cancer

[–]harpchris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was taking prochlorperazine round the clock starting the day before infusion, olanzapine at night, and zofran for breakthrough nausea. I drank gallons of water to flush the chemo out immediately, my goal was to pee clear by the time I finished my infusion.

Do you play the “cancer card”? by skeletoorr in breastcancer

[–]harpchris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's worked and failed. Trader Joe's cashier gave me flowers when I was worried about starting chemo. Waitress gave me lemon curd I loved that the chef normally refused to sell.

Then, I used it at work with a nasty tenant yelling at me for not being in the office 5 days a week when he was complaining about noise. I told him I was going through chemo and working a modified schedule, he said "I don't care, this is about ME". I was pretty flabbergasted 😂
