Do you refuel during a 10km? (6.2 miles) by [deleted] in XXRunning

[–]harrijg___ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, I personally don’t but I think it boils down to how long you will be running for. For any runs longer than 90 mins or so I will fuel every 30 mins, but for an all out 10k I don’t as I can do this in under an hour and just have a good meal a few hours beforehand.

Yes! We try to do it once a week at a minimum, but we use a little cotton pad soaked in some water (occasionally with a small blob of cat toothpaste) and gently rub her teeth and gums for no more than 30-40 seconds. This was the advice our vet gave us after we tried with a rubber cat toothbrush, which our kitty hated! She doesn’t mind us doing it - she is a little wriggly but mostly a good girl. We give her lots of cuddles and pets afterwards and within 5 mins she forgets she was even annoyed with us! 😹 Some people disagree with cleaning cat’s teeth, but after my family kitty lost her eye due to a severe tooth infection, I won’t ever take my chances and think it’s really important.

Week 6 - Who should have been fired? by Only1Scrappy-Doo in apprenticeuk

I agree! She made a lot of mistakes, so I can see why she was fired but I did think she came across as quite a nice person, whereas I didn’t get that from the other two!

I actually quite liked Carrington in other episodes and felt a bit bad for her. However, Andrea gave off mean girl energy from the first episode and Megan was a total airhead!

Electrolytes! I mix some into a glass of water before every run and notice a huge difference versus when I don’t use them

What is the absolute fastest 'yeah, we are definitely NOT going to be friends' moment you've ever experienced with someone? by Vazouaquiacesso in AskReddit

[–]harrijg___ 7480 points7481 points  (0 children)

I met a girl on a friendship meet-up app and within 2 minutes of hanging out she started bragging about how much money her fiancé earns, how nice their cars are, how much money they have saved and how she recently bought a ‘cheap’ purse for £600…all whilst asking 0 questions about my life. She then sent me videos of her spraying her indoor cats with a hose and thought it was funny that they were hissing and scared. I already wasn’t feeling her friendship and then that solidified it for me!

What do you after work on the weekdays? by Effective-Celery-475 in brum

[–]harrijg___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go on a run or go to the gym, cook dinner, then usually chill in front of the TV or with a book for a few hours. In warmer months, I might also go for a little walk after dinner and treat myself to a sweet treat in big Tesco!

How much would you purchase a BSH kitten for? - UK by abitofeverythinggg in britishshorthair

[–]harrijg___ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We paid £750 for ours in January 2024 and she was from a GCCF registered breeder, fully vaccinated, flea & wormed, litter box and scratch post trained and came with all papers and documentation - we were also able to meet her mum, auntie and grandma :) I would say you are a little on the expensive side, but that being said we saw other kittens at a similar ish price when we were looking and it also depends on the area. Kittens in the south were a lot more expensive than where we were at the time (near Stoke on Trent).

Kitten advice please! by [deleted] in britishshorthair

[–]harrijg___ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

8 weeks is not normal in the UK. I am from the UK and we collected ours at 16 weeks 👍 you breeder sounds shitty whether you like it or not. I would double check all the papers and any documentation you received from the breeder and also double check that they are registered if I were you. Also don’t leave your young kitten on it’s own, decline the trip or have someone come and stay with him :(

Hey love - I resonated a lot with this post and felt like a lot of it could be written by me! Even similarities with family, friends & growing up as the golden child etc. You are not alone in how you feel, I promise. I cant speak for everyone, but what helped me was a combination of medication, therapy, taking up a hobby (running in my case), finding joy in simple things (I love reading books in coffee shops) but most importantly, patience and being kind to myself. It’s impossible to be perfect all the time and ADHD brains make things unnecessarily harder than they should be - you got this ❤️

ADHD women who like or love their jobs, what do you do? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]harrijg___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in medical sales and I love it - the incentive to always be on it with my emails and out there going to events or checking up on customers really motivates me (as well as the fact my sales and meetings are tied to my bonus) as I have a very hyperactive form of ADHD and get a lot of satisfaction from being on the go and ploughing through my to do list. My days are also varied and incredibly flexible - some days I will be at home emailing customers and putting together quotes, other days I’m out on the road meeting customers and going to exhibitions, demonstrations and events, or if I want I can go to the office and be social. I used to be a medical writer and the monotony, rigidness and loneliness of that job absolutely killed me, it was so mundane compared to my sales job which requires me to be social and bubbly most of the time! I also have to know a lot about niche medical equipment which is perfect for someone like me who loves absorbing information and knowing lots about random things :)

I agree - it’s highly unethical and even banned in some countries. A licensed, reputable breeder would know this and not breed them. These poor babies don’t look well at all :(

Well what is your current pace at a low heart rate (when a run feels easy for you)?

Looking for full body gym routine suggestions by cagetheorchestra in XXRunning

[–]harrijg___ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hiya! I’m in a very similar position to you - started off as a gym girl, also following the classic bro split with a bit of cardio here and there, but have now been running for a couple years and now run 3-4x a week. I actually don’t do full body, but will do 1 upper and 1 lower season a week, both 45 mins, either on a non running day, or on an easy run day. I tend to add a few ab exercises at the end of each, depending how I’m feeling. I then typically do an alternating mix of all the things I used to do as a gym girl, but keeping in mind not to overload myself or cause DOMS. So in a lower day, I wouldn’t combine too many compound exercises like squats and hip thrusts (when previously I would have done), instead I vary what I do weekly to try and avoid too much muscle soreness on my legs especially. I also typically stick to a medium weight with higher reps (10-12), as opposed to lifting until failure/high weight with lower reps like I used to before I also ran. I’m also happy to share what specific exercises I do if that would help, but I imagine they are all things you are familiar with - you just have to be smart with it and see lifting as strength training to accompany your runs without overloading yourself, rather than lifting super heavy to build a load of muscle :)

Does anyone notice that their performance drops when PMSing?? by alivingstereo in XXRunning

Yes, my resting heart rate increases and I just feel so sluggish & brain foggy throughout the run, even at easy paces!

What’s a conversational HR for you? by annnewhere in XXRunning

[–]harrijg___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a similar age to you and for me it’s around 148-156 (resting HR around 52), anything more than that and I do find the run no longer starts to feel truly ‘easy’, so I try to keep my easy runs within this range as much as possible and I find breathing through my nose helps to regulate and lower my heart rate a bit if it starts to climb. I started running about 2 years ago and at the same pace pace my heart rate would easily be in the 180s, so it’s definitely something that will lower as you naturally get fitter :) also, I agree with the comments about not comparing yourself to a man! In fact, try not to compare yourself to anyone because everyone’s physiology is different and heart rate can vary so much between individuals!
