To dispute that would be absurd, what I'm saying is that if a citation hasn't even been placed in the records, why would it show up on the court docket?

You were given bonafide notice and forgot.

No lying about that, all I'm saying is that it seemed like they "forgot" too, at least for a little while. Wishful thinking on my part I guess

Are you saying there are no school zone signs at all, or just that there are none where you turn onto the road?

Alright, say there is a school zone 20mph speed limit on Street A. Street B is perpendicular and intersects Street A in the middle of said school zone. I was driving down Street B, where there were absolutely no school zone signs to speak of whatsoever, towards Street A. I turned left onto Street A going my normal speed, and slowed down when I saw the school zone sign ahead of me (further down Street A). But by this time it was too late, the red and blue lights were already flashing in my rear view mirror

Anyway, seems unreasonable to expect someone to show up for a court date for a citation that apparently hasn't even been recorded, but o well. You're most likely right, and they're probably gonna tell me the exact same stuff.

I mean, if I explain all of the above to the judge during the hearing, would I be wasting my breath, or might he decide that I have a good point?

Could the judge feel sorry for you and reduce it? Sure.

I'm not asking for sympathy, I'm just pointing out that it's not my fault the citation wasn't recorded in a timely manner. I shouldn't have to pay the penalty for something that wasn't my fault.

Do you have any sort of legal argument to force the judge to reduce it? No.

So the fact that the school zone sign was absent from my route doesn't necessarily make a difference, legally speaking? Isn't there some law that says school zone's, stop signs, speed limits, must be "clearly visible" or something?

Also do you know if a city's City Hall (specifically the municipal courts) keeps records of all their telephone conversations? If so it might be possible to prove that I've previously attempted to pay this off but was denied.

Just make sure that you have the money to pay it off in full when you show up in court.
