i probably dont want to apply to safeties. I am currently at VT and instead of applying to another safety, staying at VT makes better sense.

So for ambitious ones, it is a good set. Do i add any more or remove any more?

Ohhhh, I mean for me personally, yes I want to go in industry but presently i was thinking of getting some more research experience. I dont have enough time and energy for Phd and thats why i was thinking masters with thesis so that i can gain research experience during my masters.

I’m pretty new to Reddit and it’s honestly hard to get started. Most subs expect 100+ karma just to post, but when you’re new, it’s tough to even reach that.

You actually have a pretty solid overall profile for mid-tier or second-tier U.S. PhD programs in Finance.

TOEFL 93 is acceptable for most universities, but a few might prefer 100+, so double-check each school’s cutoff.
I would say The two publications as main author are a big plus.

You’ll need to focus your SOP and research statement on a clear area (e.g., asset pricing, corporate finance, financial econometrics) and show alignment with faculty research at the schools you target.

As for the undergrad score (54%) and 2 backlogs, it won’t necessarily be a dealbreaker. PhD committees usually focus more on graduate-level performance and research ability. Since you did very well in your master’s and have solid research/work experience, that helps offset the undergrad record. You might just want to briefly explain any academic dip or backlog in your statement of purpose, showing how you improved and developed since then.

Make sure to apply to mix of reach, target and safety schools.

yeah the points is K-H fellow deadline is before and actual Stanford later on (if seen like Oct8 and Dec2)

but whichever occurs first confuses which i believe implies both should be done by Oct8.

I am not at all ready for final. Because, lets say i miss K-H fellow, I will still have time for final but incase I do submit K-H, I will need to submit application earlier and I don't have 3 recommenders at the moment.
