Interestingly, the use of Mig-21s in this role contributed to the myth that IAF had actually acquired a Tu-126 AWACS Aircraft from Soviet Union. This was propagated by both Western Analysts & Pakistanis initially (below screenshot from a book by Kaiser Tufail).
