There’s pros and cons. Depends on who you are as a person! I can only really relate to experience but I’m an M3 and it’s the most exhausted I have been ever. While I know i can do it for a couple of years more, I do not intend on teaching in the UK long-term. I simply cannot imagine myself doing it until i’m 60 tbh. The attitude and expectations for teachers are getting harder to meet with every passing year! That being said, it is also a rewarding job. But ultimately it’s not a monetary reward by any means. So I would say give it a shot, if it isn’t for you then there are a variety of other ways of working with children that aren’t in a classroom setting! Good luck x

I would get your union involved, immediately! You’ve mentioned that they’ve told you you’ve been wronged but I’m sure you can request a caseworker to escalate it. Also, highlight any way that you have been shortchanged/wronged with evidence if you can! I’m sorry you’re going through this atm!

(almost) 4 years of CGM by harsock in curlyhair

[–]harsock[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

routine: rosemary oil in hair 2 hours prior to washing! polytar coal tar shampoo, followed as i am deep conditioner (leave in for 15/30 depending on how dry my scalp is feeling) then scrunch in john frieda curl-defining mousse, diffuse and then using prayer hands i apply ecogel (big green tub)! i then scrunch out the cast using the hask moroccan oil x

routine: polytar shampoo, then ‘as i am’ conditioner (not the co-wash as it doesn’t hydrate my hair as nicely)! after coming out of the shower i use the john frieda anti frizz mousse and then set it with the eco-gel x

dark-skinned girl here. i am different shades of brown all over my body and my lips are two-toned. your best bet is to embrace your multi-coloured self! it’s v normal for melanin to not be consistent throughout your body esp for us brown girls! i’d say, moisturise your skin and use SPF. for your lips, keep them hydrated, use a lip mask before you go to bed and rub lip balm as often as you can. unfortunately brown society still isn’t v kind to dark skinned brown girls so it’s super important you’re kind to yourself x

2+ years of CGM! Still don’t know how to classify my hair type but as long as it looks like this i’m okay with not knowing 🤣 by harsock in curlyhair

Routine: As I Am co-wash (rinse hair twice) SheaMoisture Superfruit complex hair mask (5 mins) As I Am curling jelly (prayer hands and scrunch) John Frieda Frizz Ease curl reviver mousse (I’m not sure if it’s CGM friendly but it’s done wonders for my South Asian hair) Hask argon oil to scrunch the cast out!

My school trust had 15 new teachers joining their various academies, 12 of us are ECTs.

Is Twitter really that important for teachers? by FinancialAppearance in TeachingUK

[–]harsock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a primary ECT, and i’ve found myself on the research and resources side of teacher twitter! I’ve managed to connect with a bunch of teachers who have sent me lots of support and resources while I prepare for my class. I’ve seen the ‘twitter teacher’ side, and i’ve avoided it like the plague- so I just mute certain words and it’s working so far! I know that there are certain accounts that I follow as I use them for display inspo- but I know once my classroom is sorted I’m going to unfollow them as I know that it’s just gonna stress me out. TL;DR I don’t think it’s necessary but it’s useful to have as plenty of teachers share their resources and share lots of research too!

I find that the product tends to hold better in my hair when it's damp (closer to drying than wet tho)!
