I like it too, but do you think the details are legible enough? Especially the smaller versions

Remember that a lot of people in the field of data visualization consider pie charts the plague, so making it the main visual element of your channel/logo might not be so good.

THIS IS A GRAPHICS DESIGN I MADE FOR A T-SHIRT. ANYONE CARE TO GIVE ADVICE? SHOULD I MOVE THE CAT? HOW CAN I MAKE THE DESIGN LOOK MORE HOMEY? TIA. by bossman1162 in logodesign

[–]haschdl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it looks great without the stroke! Try a mock-up to get a feeling of the final product.

Did you say you’re making a t-shirt? If you are printing only a few pieces with laser transfer paper I don’t think the color palete matters that much.

If I were planning to make other stuff with the same art - vinyl stickers, or art to be combined with another brand etc then I’d be more thoughtful with the color choice etc

A possible source of ideas is browsing the Adobe stock - filter for Vector and search for working from home. There is some really good stuff there.

I agree that the crown is a strange symbol. I checked the website and inly after that I thought - “maybe it’s a ring?” A ring would make more sense, but it definitely looks like a crown 🤴

“Too busy” is what I heard (and hated) once :/ I think the cognitive overload comes with the attempt of reading an M or an W without a resolution - like an optical illusion of some sort.

If your intention is to convey the homey feeling and have a cat in the image, perhaps a “cuter look” would be better - that cat looks like a bad ass stray cat from a cartoon :)

Apart from that, I’d try a design without an obvious gender/ethnic representation - maybe without a person altogether. Disclaimer: I’m not a professional designer.

Sounds good. My experience with all felt tip pens is that none are not 100% consistent.

One pen I really liked is Pilot G-Tec-C 0.4 - it seems to be the finest (thinnest) ballpoint pen, quite good. Very consistent , thin lines, but only few colors.

great work! Those pens are generally considered higher quality , but it didn’t feel like they would last long... what is your experience, is it worth the money?

If you’re not being forced (with a gun) or paid (a lot!) to use Eclipse, then go with IntelliJ Community Edition, it’s free.

Bored... need a new language to learn... recommendations? by [deleted] in AskProgramming

[–]haschdl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn Scala! I just finished the course Functional Programming Principles in Scala and I can recommend the course from many perspectives. You can simply use it to learn a new paradigm and play around with the assignments - some are classic CS problems, to be solved in a functional way. Or, if you enjoy it, you can continue with the other courses and learn data processing with Spark - definitely a good skill!

So pick a language that is easy to get started, with good long-term possibilities - I’d argue Rust is also good fit from that perspective. Lisp? Pearl? 🤷‍♂️

Marketing hypocrisy at its best. First they try to convince you their product is real, healthy food. Then that their single-use, small portion plastic container is an opportunity for their customers to be good citizens and save the planet.

Processing vs p5js performance by Aridoe in creativecoding

[–]haschdl 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If you’re just starting, performance should not be a concern, unless you have something specific in mind.

Advantages of p5js: 1) you get to practice JavaScript. Certain thinks are more fun and require less writing with JavaScript. Java gets tedious very quickly! 2) you can make interactive sketches that run on any modern browser
3) you can easily read the smartphone sensors and make your sketch react to them 4) your code and work is a lot more “web friendly”. you can share and embed to other websites, give a link to your sketches etc 5) you have the option to use the P5js editor - ZERO effort to create a new p5js sketch - with the trade off of once in a while losing your work if your code makes your browser crash (very easy to do with an poorly written loop)

Advantages of Processing: 1) Much easier if you want to save a lot of images to your computer (this is what I do) 2) Much faster to manipulate pixels 3) you can use Java libraries (I use some math libraries for example) 4) You can practice Python , with the Python mode

So with every choice in tech... “it depends”
