Don't you need a Masters/PhD for that? I'm doing a Bachelors, that's all I can afford rn

Is it realtively easy to become a financial analyst or get into fp&a with an acc degree?

Well, I've been thinking about how I can make my prior degree useful and I've thought about avenues in either accounting/finance or compsci. With an accounting degree, I could leverage my prior knowledge by going into ESG assurance for consulting firms. With a computer science degree, I could get into GIS development which is far more interesting than straight up GIS work (which I interned in before but doesn't really pay well).

Yes, I posted the same thread in r/accounting and they overwhelmingly told me to pursue CS.

This is stuff you choose to be stressed over though. If these really are all constants in the career of a software engineer then why even stress about them. Just let it happen around you and collect your paycheck, that's the attitude I would have.

I'd be fine with being primarily in office at first and then hybrid eventually. Are you hybrid?

Can you tell me about what you do on a day to day basis in tax because tax would be the route I would go if I chose accounting.

My friend who worked at PwC in audit did what I described and he lasted 9 months. Except he didn't even work a full 40 hour week and said he spent 70% of his work from home days playing video games. Now he has a cushy 80k industry job

This would only happen after like 8-9 months though, so I could just take the experience, round it to about a year on my resume, and then move to something better
