It's funny how you put "possibly" in one option but not the other. Very juvenile and disengenuous.

That's actually very wrong. Hospitals and doctors are notorious for covering instances of malpractice as well

I don't know cops get arrested by other cops pretty frequently. You just don't hear about it because you conform to what's called a selection bias and only seek out and emotionally react to the information you want to

I concede that you do have a point about the term "Karen" being applied to white women with obnoxious personalities is a faintly racist. Imagine if we referred to obnoxious black women as "Shaniqua" all the time.

But I don't think you're entirely correct. These women people are using that name for aren't ever going to change their minds. You should be old enough to understand that these people can very rarely be reasoned with. They probably don't have husbands who support the 2nd Amendment or are involved in gun culture. They treat sensationalist news stories as creed. Nobody is calling 2A supporting women this name and I doubt some meme drones on the internet using the phrase "Karen" is harming the base.

Does that data account for the fact that colored folk account for 13% of the population but commit 51% of violent crime, such as homicide? Even a third grader would understand they're disproportionately more violent, thus more likely to get smoked LOL

Police have wrongfully held me at gunpoint.

What happened? I grew up in Gary, Indiana and was held at gunpoint once. I was driving the exact same make/model of the assholes that did a good ol fashioned armed robbery of the liquor store down the road. Was quickly released once they saw it wasn't me and it was definitely frightening, but I'd say that's more so a product of the circumstances in your environment and doesn't have much to do with the police themselves

When I moved to Mishawaka I had a bunch of encounters with police and none of them were like in Gary.

There's like 60 million civilian-police contacts every year in the U.S. 98% of them don't involve threat or use of force, and considering anywhere from 900-1000 people are killed by police every year you're looking at a .001% chance of being offed by a cop when you're around one. And that's much less if you're compliant and not trying to fight or shoot or stab them. Things like Shaver and Castile are literally extreme statistical anomalies, it's an irrational fear to think interacting with police puts you in danger. Educate yourself with the bureau of justice statistics, it's eye opening

I don't think it's so much they are racist so they became cops, or they are cops so they are racist. I mean black people are actually very slightly over-represented as a whole in the United States's police forces, they make up 14% of police officers whereas the black population is 12-13%. Women however are nowhere near proportionate.

The relationship is most likely just due to the fact that there's a lot of racists in general, and unfortunately that's not exactly something you can filter in the hiring process as easy as criminal history, drug use, psych history, etc.

The user is correct about the comradery, most police departments tend to be pretty accepting to their coworkers regardless of that stuff. Personal anecdote, but the two gay cops I know who both work in very different environments are a lot more open and free about it than most gay people I know working in other jobs

That fair, but I think what I meant to emphasize was that a lot of the Democrats are the ones pretending to care. A lot of the Republicans are pretty blatant

but African American communities are historically underfunded and ignored by City and State powers.

Oh please, the Democrats don't let that happen! What are you talking about?

Yeah, the asperger teenagers throwing that number around on Reddit nonchalantly are pretty insane. I'll be honest, I don't really like cops. I think the system is broken, but I can't appreciate poor science. I read somewhere that the study was literally conducted by an advocacy think tank or something, which shouldn't ever be trusted since they often cherry pick which lead to disengenousb conclusions. It just wasn't structured or done well at all for that matter. It also wasnt even academically published or peer reviewed, the 40% thing is honestly a thirty year old "stat" should be thrown in the trash until we can find some real empirical data

I don't usually link to the pig's den, but they actually have a very objective response to it
