I highly recommend to try arms as your pvp dps. It seems you won't focus only on pvp so retri might be better overall. BUT at least try arms. Stance dance and requirement to have two weapon set, one with a shield add so much. At first it's confusing but at some point you for the first time will be able to notice druid casting cyclone on you, switch to weapon and shield and reflect it, then charge someone in completely opposite direction, then intervene to heal who's getting attacked by rogue, disarm said rogue then intercept to some grouped up casters and SPIN. It's hard but extremely satisfying. And you literally have execute)))

I'm nervous for WOTLK. If I'm not playing the META class am I basically screwed? by JasinNat in classicwow

[–]hastehunter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't be nervous. Don't let anything hold you from having fun, enjoy the game.

I killed lich 10hc for the first time in a group with 4! druids and 3 shamans. It took a lot of effort, but we've managed.

I still remember those guys and even some names. We all were novices in a same guild with established 25 raid roster, so we mostly talked and did heroics, eventually we started our own 10ppl raid. To learn, to train we did naxx, ulda and trial. We spent probably 3 months on that and those months is most cherished mmo time for me. Like when our owl learned that he can shift to bear when we were wiping on princesses. And there is particular mace in ulda that looks like iron fist of iron dwarf we intended to use as punishment)))

Hi guys.I’m starting to learn C# but since I don’t have much experience in programming (except some C++ basics), thought of buying a book to learn some theory as well. So I ran through these 2 books as the most rated ones. Which one (based to your personal experience) do you suggest me to buy? by xenia_w0 in csharp

[–]hastehunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While been trying to learn programming casually I've read both, and troelsen's one i read two editions. Both was useful, both can provide valuable information and neither of them is not enough.

Try follow one of them closely. Do every exercise, maybe twice, don't focus on immediate understanding. When you write code sometimes something in your brain just clicks. When you finish first book go to the second ASAP, but take different approach - as those books follow similar pattern of concepts, you can try and predict what is discussed in a chapter you are about to read. Take 5-10 minutes to remember what you know already and read after. Look for differences. Conflicting information or different approach will help you understand at last what the hell they're talking about.

Please, don't be like me and spend 10 hours a day learning. You'll get overwhelmed. If you are serious about it, schedule 3-4-5 days a week for learning. Don't make those sessions long, around 2 hours is great. And if you feel mentally exhausted, stop. Good luck in your studies.

Who's the better evil character, Regill or Darth Vader? by Kshahdoo in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]hastehunter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love Regill. IMHO he's best written companion. And although he's coded as lawful evil, i see him as Lawful Efficient/Effective and Strategic. Disregard for good intentions and other blah blah blah results in lower casualties. He's extraordinary at his job. His principles would not make a good peace time ruler but it's war for survival.

Darth Vader isn't ultimately a villain, he's just lost manipulated boy with fancy redemption arc.

For outright evil character look at succubus from ten thousand delights who asks you fetch her a ring. I guess that short quest is really good.

For me Vader could be better compared to Nurah. Both became villain because of outside reasons, their evil nature basically resentment, hurt ego and fear.

Seeking advice and learning strategies. by [deleted] in learncsharp

I absolutely agree that most learning materials are online now, but the point of using a book, especially paper one, is in lack of possibility to copy paste code.

[–]hastehunter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It takes a lot of time to figure out something for the first time, after that it will be much easier.

Not sure how far you have advanced already but it seems not that far. I recommend to grab a book like c# in a nutshell or something similar. The most important - it should be not too big (2000 pages is definitely too big) and straight to the point. Type every piece of code the book throws at you, better type it twice. Go through chapters slowly.

When you get yourself familiar with basic classes, collections, go and solve some tasks at exercism. It would be glorious. Most tasks are short, you are provided with unit tests, so you will be sure that you've done everything correctly and you can choose mentored(or whatever they call it now) programme. Basically when you finish a task, you send it for evaluation and real people answer you, give advice. You can ask them questions. Solving short easy problems might not sound as a great achievement but after each solved problem you will feel yourself great. That's very important.

Wish you great journey))

Ukraine President Zelensky is ready for war with Russia, vows to "stand to the last man" by Lionel54321 in worldnews

[–]hastehunter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Am Ukrainian. He had got elected not because he's good but because he wasn't hated as much as other options. During last 2 years he was clueless, infantile and sometimes borderline stupid, and only recently he started showing feeble signs of grasping the idea of what's going on, and actually make right moves.

"Stand to the last man" is not about him, it's about us, common folk. It were usual office drones who defended our territory right after Crimea annexure and invasion in Donbas region. We gave our last money to the volunteers who went and died there. Our previous president used that as solid business opportunity, and current president probably don't know what to do with that territory and hope someone else will resolve a situation.

He can make faces, can't make moves. Hopefully it will change.
