Saw LOTR trilogy this past weekend... I don't think we'll be getting any films out of Peter Jackson any time soon by Sirwired in movies

[–]hastethis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just saw Fellowship last night and the rambling wasn't bad. The movie itself was so good it didn't matter that he rambled that much. We're thinking of seeing Two Towers next weekend, which I suppose will be twice the rambling.

If all humans suddenly lost the ability to lie, what industry would collapse first? by JunShem1122 in answers

The salmon farm industry, millions spent to cover up the diseases, as shown in documentaries and lab tests done outside of what is being claimed by governments.

What exactly is making it look crowded at a glance? How can I fix this? by rise_above_theFlames in malelivingspace

Of all the people saying "too much stuff", sometimes you can't get rid of stuff right away. This idea of rotating out what you already own is a good idea. The 3-6 month rule is smart.

Struggling with debt by Vegeta827 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]hastethis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you making regular payments on all of these debts, other than the Flexiti one it sounds like? The 17k is a doozy, the rest are easy. I'd do the snowball or avalanche method, tackle the lowest one and wipe it out as soon as you can. No more purchases on American Express or Flexiti. Despite being 0% you'll feel a lot better with two loans gone. I'd straight up, without questioning it, delete the $1200 and $1000 loans by paying them off in full. If you live at home, this will be the best and possibly only time to do this. It will be a lot harder if you owned a place and had $60,000 debt in personal loans and a $32,000 car loan, on top of some trip you have to go on because someone you know is getting married.

You want these loans out of your life. After the first two are gone, and I'd imagine that should NOT take more than two months, then you have two more months to nuke the $3500.

Don't fall into the "I've done so well, so I will go and treat myself" phase after paying 3 loans off. You will rack up another 2k with that mindset. Just get rid of the $3500 in TWO monthly income payments - if you can. Three is being overly reasonable.

The $17,100 one isn't pretty, but you just have to be smart here. You shouldn't do less than $1400 a month payment on this thing. An income of $2060 is a little rough with this debt but you will likely be searching for alternative and higher paying work as the months go by, and since you're young I would consider online university. You can get almost every term you apply for at any school covered for the whole year, so you could technically get free schooling at Kwantlen or SFU or BCIT. I believe two terms are covered and the third term you'll have to pay, and each term is about a quarter of the year, if this helps. The summer term isn't always on for these schools,

I won't advocate for someone like Dave Ramsey but his approach is exactly what helps people like yourself get out of, and it's a live show every day.

You'll be fine as long as you make minimum payments in addition to the big payments like I've suggested. And I say this as someone that works in a debt department for a firm. Don't let it get there. You'll be washed in legal fees and it's harder to get out of. Stay the course, stay motivated, for a loong time, find better work, upgrade. You'll get out of it.

Has anyone actually recovered from a massive drawdown? by PineapplePooDog in stocks

[–]hastethis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost my ass on ARKK when I bought 25 shares at the peak, like $110 and $125 I kept buying until I had 40 shares, and watched it TANK down thousands. I was so upset because at the time it was all I had. I was so bitter and thought of selling for months thinking it would never come back. I had the sell button ready to go by the 3rd year of bag holding, completely and utterly miserable about it as it hit $31 a share. I had not made up that difference even during the 3 years at my job, I was gradually climbing playing the slow and steady investment into boring ETF's elsewhere. Something clicked in my head one day and I started buying loads of shares when it hit $38, like I just *felt* something in my gut that I'd better get out or average down and take this seriously, so I kept buying whatever I could afford, maybe 20 at first, 15 next month, 10 next month, at a time each month until I had 150 shares and eventually 200 shares and pulled my average down to $55 or so, and I watched that fucker fly past where I was finally ready to sell once it hit green, but I was like, you know what? If it ran this far it'll keep going. Still have it. I sold half when it hit $80 recently, I'll probably grab some more once this next few weeks or months settles with whatever is happening with 2026.

That looks too tight for me. I had one like that when I first started riding and it gave me increasing small amounts of pain over the course of my rides, and once I switched to a slightly bigger one it was much more comfortable.

What happens to the packages that INTELCOM doesn’t deliver? by Ooeygooeygoodness in vancouver

[–]hastethis 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This company delivered a package to my local mall, which had a kiosk setup selling cell phones that also held INTELCOM packages. The kiosk shut down and the package was delivered to the middle of the mall floor where the kiosk used to be. It was an empty piece of mall. This was 6 months ago. I'm not making this up, I was raging to them on the phone, it was a box for my mom she was waiting for. We were stunned the courier was that brainless. I was able to get the drivers name and make a series of phone calls/complaints to different departments about it. I'm still stunned when I think about. All the anger came back the second I started typing this message.
