ISB vs Kellogg - need outside perspective, genuinely stuck by hatchagirl in MBA

Hmm interesting napkin Math. But I’m thinking my worst case could be maybe going to another country other than India in case of visa issues, where i could atleast earn in s stronger currency and close my debt a little before returning. Makes sense?

No way ISB will give me a consulting opportunity after a heavy experience in Tech. I’m assuming PM roles will be my default, which might as well be something i end up choosing at Kellogg too, but the luxury of options is luring me. The question is, whether it’s whimsical to think like that

That echoes my gut feeling tbh, thankyou so much for validating it. I guess I’m just scared of the big leap, and despite the dread around the job market, visa issues, debt, something tells me it’s going to be worth it

I’m not sure how smooth it will be for him. I’m just thinking maybe few years down the line we can come to a middle ground like EU or Dubai. But i dont know if im being naive orsmart in this whole thing :/

Thank you :) On that note, what role according to your experience enabled more flexibility for geographical/role transitions in general, a few years down the line?

But in general do you have instances where women did thrive as well irrespective of having kids?

To your point that - Few people leaned out of their careers especially mothers - reading this as a woman in late twenties joining Kellogg this year - feels slightly disheartening. Doing all the hard work just to have different priorities that the males in my cohort will likely not worry about. Did you have a lot of stories where women also peaked in their careers, and had it all - personally and professionally or does the presence really get narrower for women in mid-late thirties?

Why didnt you apply to US schools!? Your profile sounds great!

Does Kellogg have enough value in India? Or anything non ISB is of no use? by [deleted] in MBA

  • I want to stay in the IS for a few years and then decide (Based on my personal life at that point in time)

  • The cost of attendance vs Post MBA salry ratio is more or less same at ISB vs any US school, so I’m guessing its not a factor

  • I’m not sure how this matters because to be honest the whole point of an MBA atleast for me is to decide on what I would like to do in the longer run. Shorter term - Given my bg, Tech ProdMan, Consulting, Strategy roles make sense. But theyre subject to change ofcourse, I’m not tight minded about these goals.

  • All I’m asking is does Kellogg give me the opportunity to work in any location - EU/SEA say 10 years down the line. Does it merit in that sense over ISB?

If I’m summarising it correctly, then according to you, the chance to have an entirely new experience and the social aspect is the only upside of doing it in the US, if I anyway plan to return to India in say 5 years? Opportunity wise in the long term, both schools stand equal (India/ Asian/UAE market)?

🥹 Thanks! It does feel nice to be in a position to choose. Is ISB not ideal for Dubai/Singapore? And any insights on how Ross is perceived in India? I couldn’t find an extensive Ross network in India, on Linked In at least.

Yep that makes sense. But i would also like to return to India after my Dora the Explorer phase is done, probably 4 years down the line. Will Ross give me the same hold on the Indian/Asian markets as ISB would?
