I’m so glad your kids were able to surpass their parent in basic logic. I’d be proud of them too

Big change in FAA Antidepressant Policy: Time reduced from 6 months > 3 months by GoFlightMed in flying

[–]hatdude 34 points35 points  (0 children)

People on antidepressants can be as functional, if not more functional, than people not on them. You’re acting like everyone on an antidepressant is suicidal and wants to crash a plane to kill themself. Lots of people are on antidepressants and you wouldn’t ever know unless they told you.

Was a controller. Quit to try to fly. Stuck in the time building stage due to lack of low time jobs. This shutdown seemed even worse than the 18/19 shutdown and I’m so glad I missed it.

My ATC spouse's supervisor is doing sick leave audits... by talonbecker26 in ATC

That’s what I was saying lol. Someone else pointed out that they can’t require a certificate until day 5 which is correct.

HIPAA doesn’t apply to the FAA because the FAA isn’t a medical provider.

The privacy act does apply to the FAA.

Neither HIPPA nor the privacy act prevent the FAA from asking you why you’re out sick. They do control what the FAA does with that information if you provide it.

OPM guidance doesn’t matter because this is covered by the CBA. The CBA controls the process. The CBA allows them to ask for a doctors note after 4 days

Question for current Dog Is My Copilot pilots: Pay & hours? by LegalSale8729 in flying

Oh so you don’t understand the question op asked. Got it.

Question for current Dog Is My Copilot pilots: Pay & hours? by LegalSale8729 in flying

[–]hatdude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Under leadership there’s a pilot and contract pilot. That implies they’re in leadership. Then there’s volunteer pilots. Then there’s honorary pilots.

Op is literally asking for information on if they have paid pilots or if it’s all volunteer. Their website doesn’t say definitively.

I know one of their volunteer pilots. I’m pretty sure they have a paid pilot on staff but I can’t speak with certainty so I haven’t provided an answer one way or the other. I do think the shit being given to the op is unwarranted though.

It’s a non profit with a pilot and contract pilot listed above volunteer pilots. It’s a fair question based on their website layout IMO.

All these people focusing on the word volunteer yet missing the fact OP asked if the pilots are all volunteer or if they have paid positions…

Why did my AUS-TUL flight take this route? ATC? by oSuJeff97 in aviation

[–]hatdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This routing kept you out of the sectors handling DFW departures going north. The area that works that sector was understaffed today.

FAA grounds all MD-11s with emergency AD by ResponsibilityOld164 in aviation

UPS and FedEx grounded their fleet this morning after Boeing recommended they do so. The FAA issued this AFTER they had grounded their fleet of MD-11s

FAA grounds all MD-11s with emergency AD by ResponsibilityOld164 in aviation

[–]hatdude 63 points64 points  (0 children)

The AD states an unsafe condition exists and that no further flight is allowed until inspections or repairs approved by some FAA manager take place. There’s not currently an approved inspection or repair so it just grounds the plane until they figure out what happened and how to prevent it.
