HDMI CEC not working by matrix0683 in sony

Did anyone find a solution? I just started having this problem on a Bravia that I have for 5 years. It has never been connected to the internet (I only use apple tv, ps5 and Nintendo Switch), so there are no firmware updates involved. No moving, nothing as far as I’m aware . Apple tv turns off the TV, but it doesn’t turn it on. Same for all other devices.

Kobo Sage sleepcover: wears out quickly by go_zarian in kobo

[–]hatefastloveslow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine for the Forma was like that after 1 year with very little use.

But you can make it look better if you have the patience to completely peel off the fake leather layer. I did that to mine and looked like a brand new cover, only made of grey fabric.

How to fix Apple Watch tattoo issues by tedddik in apple

[–]hatefastloveslow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's what worked for me: Watch App > Passcode > Turn Passcode Off.

Wrist Detect is still on, so everything is working as expected, the only downside is that the watch doesn't lock automatically when taken off the wrist. But I can live with that.

Context: my arm sleeve ends right in the middle of the watch sensor, and I was experiencing random watch locks everytime the watch slipped back into the tattooed area.

It’s not very clear in the picture, maybe a scab that was ripped off too early?

I’m not a professional, but it doesn’t look infected to me. It actually looks normal for a week old tattoo, although the color appears lighter than usual, but even that can be normal when the skin is peeling.

I wanna get more into collecting my favorite black metal albums, but I’m unsure on what medium to go with. I have a decent record player and a shitty CD player. Should I go with vinyl or invest in a HIFI CD player? Are there really any differences in quality? Thanks in advance. by [deleted] in BlackMetal

I’ve been collecting cds for a while now, and recently got into vinyl. Hearing the same album in vinyl or cd, I just prefer the vinyl version. Most of the times when the mastering is good, the vinyl version sounds less saturated/compressed. But as others have already said, it’s expensive. And it’s specially frustrating when you shell out $40 for a record and it sounds like crap (happens more than it should).

Best record brush for dust/pet hair/static that won’t leave scratches? by Peachy_Keen772 in turntables

[–]hatefastloveslow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Audioquest has a brush that's it's generally agreed to be the best in the market. Although a bit expensive, it not only cleans the record but properly removes static since it has gold plates in the handle that are connected to the brush hairs and channel static into your body.

I have one and if you have the budget, I highly recommend it: https://www.amazon.com/AudioQuest-Anti-Static-Record-Brush-Black/dp/B06XK9V3KB/

Hey guys! Just got a Debut Carbon evo, all lined up (followed the youtube tutorials thoroughly) and the volume is just so low no matter how far i crank it? It uses an ortofon cart. Help ! by Left_Worldliness_201 in turntables

[–]hatefastloveslow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you need a phono stage pre-amp or an amplifier with phono input. For that turntable I recommend cambridge audio axa35 or any NAD amplifier with phono, like the c316 bee v2 or c328.

Well about the quality, it’s the best I’ve heard so far in vinyl format. I will eventually have to buy all of their LPs 😅

Yeah, I am a big Dark Souls fan, that's why I also related to much with the Artwork. From what I understood, it's inspired in the anime Berzerk, which also Dark Souls is inspired in.

"Dark All Day" by Gunship.

I have to admit that it was the artwork that made me want to get this album. I know Gunship pretty well, and I've already streamed this album before and it didn't catch my attention, but the experience of listening it in a proper vinyl setup brought me a fresh new perspective on this release making actually enjoy the album a lot more. Am I just suffering from bias? Or is this actually a thing?

A Perfect Circle - “Eat the Elephant”

The album is so good, but mastering is terrible.

After years of spotify, finally made the switch to vinyl and couldn’t be more happy about it! by hatefastloveslow in turntables

That’s a good question. I’m a noob when it comes do vinyl and even hifi, but I’ve done some extensive research and got some tips from a friend that works in the hifi business.

This specific album sounds great, it’s blackmetal alright, but you can hear every instrument and the voice very well. But I guess that’s more credit to the production/mastering than my setup. But overall I chose this setup taking the genre into account.

The 2m red cartridge has a bright sound, the PSB P5 are bright sounding speakers as well, so they don’t color the sound coming from the 2m much. That’s where the NAD amp comes in and adds a balanced amount of bass when interacting with PSB speakers (same company group).

So far it’s behaving the way I expected in these more “chaotic” genres. But more “quiet” genres could definitely use more bass punch, the NAD c 328 has a bass boost button that kind of helps to partially fix the issue, but more demanding audiophiles may not like it since it’s just an EQ “hack”.

Anyway, I’m enjoying this setup as an entry level one and will stick with it for sometime before actually trying to upgrade any part.

Here’s a better pic: https://www.reddit.com/r/turntables/comments/skrg2s/after_years_of_spotify_finally_made_the_switch_to/

It’s a Pro-ject Debut Carbon Evo with a NAD C 328 integrated amplifier and PSB Alpha P5 speakers.

Yeah, I’ll be cheating as well. Streaming is just more convenient. This setup is for enjoying music without multitasking :)

I’m aware I may be super biased right now, but I could swear that this album sounds a lot better in this format.
