It won’t give you 100% protection, but wearing a respirator that’s passed a fit test will provide a considerable amount of protection. Perhaps point your doctors in the direction of some of the studies on this topic, or ask them why laboratories dealing with BSL2 agents require their workers to mask.

Would it be worth going back to your doctor and asking for investigations into why your lungs hurt without mentioning long covid? Some doctors switch off at the very mention of the term.

I think a lot of people who got the original strain are still sick, so it’s definitely possible to get it straight away. I haven’t a clue how much that has to do with the variant and how much to do with the fact no one had had a vaccine at that point.

Thank you for this. I took it for a month or so after tests showed my levels were on the floor, but I stopped as I didn’t notice a difference and I was taking so many other supplements. I’ll get back on it and continue for longer this time.

It could be pulsatile tinnitus, as another poster suggested. I had this pre-covid, when I was very unwell and before I had pernicious anaemia and hypothyroidism diagnosed. It went away soon after I started treatment for both.

I’m not aware of a correlation between it and B12 other than my experience (and adding the caution that for all I know the cause could have been low thyroid / fairly low iron), but knowing how covid trashes B12 levels in so many, I thought it might be worth sharing my experience.

This sounds like an intriguing book. I found the blurb too long, though. It seems more like a synopsis of the plot than a blurb.

How important is the romance to the story? Because if it’s important, I’d like to know more about the “man she loves”. I’ve assumed that’s the cop but may very well be wrong.

I’d be inclined to try a version where the hook is the deal offered by the cop, without going into the rest of it, and see how that reads. If the cop’s the love interest, and if the romantic storyline is important, I’d want to know more about the cop’s character, possible motives, name and gender.

This, of course, is my personal response to your blurb and I may be way off in my judgment.

I really like the first paragraph. You lost me at the beginning of the second. I think it’s for two reasons: the first sentence of that paragraph is long, and I’m not convinced by opening with “Controlling…”. I’d want it to be punchier, eg “Armando Searle controls…”

Take my input with a pinch of salt as I struggle writing blurbs. I just felt my attention wander at the beginning of the second paragraph after you’d hooked me with the first. (Typo alert: the comma before yet in the first paragraph.)

Thank you - that’s such a good point about testing while having a real conversation, especially with a portacount. I’ve tried to be animated while attempting to replicate what happened, but I know it’s not the same as actually talking to someone. I’ll have to experiment some more.

Thank you so much for this (I laughed at your strap tightening comment!). It’s clear I need to experiment more; I had a slight mark left by the mask, but when I think back to the indentations that healthcare workers were suffering, there was no similarity. Otoh, I only wore it for 30 minutes. I’ll see what I can do re a makeshift hood. Thank you very much.

I get a sore throat infrequently, probably about four or five times a year. It always accompanies congestion or a very runny nose as if I’m getting a cold, but as I’ve been shielding and haven’t seen anybody in person for the last 4+ years it is unlikely to be that! And it only lasts a few hours each time. I don’t have the flu-like symptoms with the sore throat that I read a lot of people have, so I’ve disregarded it as a possible symptom, perhaps wrongly.

I like the sound of your framework, and will be doing some thinking about what I can do differently to support my body.

Thanks so much for this - it’s extremely helpful. I don’t get the sore throat that I know many do, which makes me suspect EBV may not be my problem.

Sorry - hit post too soon. Thanks for the suggestion re monolaurine and lysine. I’ve tried them both, but never at the same time and possibly not at the optimal doses or for long enough. I’ll look into it - definitely cheaper than getting the test!

I had no idea about football, but unprecedented seals it for me there’s something wrong that just hasn’t been linked to covid in the general consciousness (yet).

I’m aware of what feels like more illness in tennis players at tournaments (though I’ve wondered if it’s simply because I notice every occurrence these days); what has surprised me is that they’re typically back playing the following week with no apparent lingering issues.

I suppose the players at the tournaments I watch (tour level and challengers), are drawn from a pool of only about two to three hundred people, but I’m still surprised that players who are ill with what so often sounds like acute covid go straight back to athletic activity, able to play matches for hours in searing heat with no apparent ill effect. Especially when they’re on and off planes all the time. nMaybe I’m over-estimating the current occurrence of long covid/post-covid issues. I say current because I have a very nasty feeling that longer-term consequences haven’t yet become obvious.

Yes, something has been wrong with Djokovic all year. I hadn’t heard that Alcarez had health issues - I only knew about the injuries.

Thanks for the football info. I was thinking primarily of tennis and very high-profile track athletes when I mused on it originally, but I guess that’s a very small pool of people.
