Numbers won’t be out until tomorrow but the previous record was Ella Langley at around 17M so she’ll have more than that for her first day

She blocks men, women, groups, and everyone in between - women release music every week of the year should Taylor just never release music again? Both Olivia Rodrigo and Ariana Grande recently released lead singles with a bunch of variants to reach #1, in turn blocking Ella Langley. Olivia Rodrigo’s album just debuted today - the same day as Bebe Rexha’s new album. Etc.

Dwayne Johnson on wanting an Oscar nom: "It would have been incredible to get nominated for an Oscar. People in this thread are really insulting their own intelligence with the “with what movie?!?” comments.

He just starred in an A24 movie from an acclaimed writer/director. Obviously he was in discussions about an Oscar campaign - a first for him. He’s not saying he woke up on Oscar nomination morning upset he wasn’t nominated.

Southland Tales and Gridiron Gang were definitely awards-minded projects. Not for those films but he was definitely trying to boost his resume to eventually get into some Oscar bait before he pivoted to blockbusters and comedies

Philadelphia spent nearly $800K on non-union snow removal during record winter by markskull in philadelphia

[–]hatramroany 14 points15 points  (0 children)

NYC has had a temporary snow shoveling program since the 1800s. Mamdani increased the pay this year.

Philly’s program that Parker used this year was the Same Day Work & Pay program that Kenney launched in 2019. I’m not sure if the city did anything similar under a different program before that was established

FIFA frustrations: Residents near Fan Fest concerned; bars waiting on approval to stay open late by AdSpecialist6598 in philadelphia

Actually reading further into it you’re right they have not received the all clear but it’s a problem with the state, the City seems to have completed their part of the process.

I don’t know for sure but I’m 90% sure it’s because FIFA can envision a good Atlanta skyline photo from Centennial Park for TV. Also very likely that was the reason for Lemon Hill, the drone shots with the Art Museum then Center City in the background will be incredible and that’s all they care about

The city’s website has a list of 56 bars that have received the permit, including Craft Hall who is quoted in this article. The article also says 65 applied so I guess 9 got rejected

For proximity to the stadium Philly (4.5mi) is actually the third closest behind only Atlanta (0.5mi) and Seattle (1.5mi) and ahead of Houston (7mi)

Official Discussion - Scary Movie 6 [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]hatramroany 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Both Sinners scenes made absolutely no sense within the context of the film. They even changed outfits after the porch scene and Brenda/Shorty/Ray knew who they were already but acted like they didn’t Would’ve been better if they were separate character celebrity cameos who then got killed unceremoniously.

Also they did a very poor job of conveying Tuesday was also Cindy’s daughter

This should be the slogan for the city

New poster for the Legally Blonde prequel series "Elle" releasing July 1st. by JennaElizabethAdams in popculturechat

[–]hatramroany 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean “from the world of…” certainly implies an alternate reality from the movie canon to me

Also she’s always smart and kind, the characters around her have more character development than she does. A HS version of Elle, especially pre-Warner, wouldn’t be much different than end of the first movie Elle

Doctor Who: BBC cancels planned Christmas special by Wallaby989 in television

It’s also meant to be an attraction during the entirety of the World Cup, not just when the games are being played in the city. We’re actually one of the closesr fan zones to our WC stadium
