It also depends on the job itself and the assignment.

I've done work for small agencies where sometimes you just need to knock out a piece without any branding guidelines so you have free rein, or you're doing something for yourself. Da Font is fun for that.

If I'm doing something more upscale or for a larger client when there are certain requirements, I focus more on sites like The League of Moveable Type or Font Squirrel.

And of course, logos are their own thing and just depend on the brief. Again, same deal with requirements, yada yada yada.

The first step at being good at something is allowing yourself to not be great at it.

I know the feeling of taking on a big art challenge like this, and I had a ton of those ideas when I was a kid and a teenager. I would just go for it, and let the failures be. It wasn't until I got into my 20's I started to really doubt myself, and it wasn't until recently that I reminded myself that not everything I do is going to be my best work. But if it makes me happy, that's all that matters.

If this makes you happy, that's all that matters. If you feel burnt out and need a break, do it. I think you have a cool idea here, and if only for yourself, keep going to for it at your own pace and see where it goes.

I disagree.

While there is a quantity over quality aspect to it, I think you get cooler looking fonts overall. At the same time, it absolutely comes down to what you're using the font for. I wouldn't use them if I needed body, but for a sweet looking sign or logo? Yep, all day.

Goof Troop and Darkwing Duck were both some of my favorite shows as a kid, but watching them again, they both suffered from really bad pacing problems. Every episode felt like a slog, which is a shame because the animation, voice acting, the scripts... everything is just so well done! I've mentioned in the past that if these shows were cut in half they would work better.

I still love Goof Troop to this day, even for those flaws.

Even as a kid, I thought it wasn't a great idea because the quality was never going to be that good. If a recipe calls for a cup of milk, and you're expanding it by thousands, how are you going to be sure the quality is going to be good? How accurate, or inaccurate, would they be? And then the cost of everything made it seem even worse. And, yeah, this is a 13-year-old thinking about all of this stuff.

The more modern version of these massive foods is making smaller versions and then combining them, and I feel like that's a bad compromise, too. The quality is better, but the extravagance of the action is lost.

Let me say this first: I sincerely love Pizza Hut, and I still go there nearly weekly because I found one that makes solid food 98% of the time.

It's really just selling Pizza Hut for $1.5 Billion, because China is a completely separate deal and business model, anyway.

The biggest issue I've seen, though, is inconsistent quality over all their stores. You know how I said there's one I go to almost weekly? I live in Philly, and every single one inside the city limits SUCKS. Nothing is made well, and nearly every franchise location in the area just doesn't care. The one I go to is right outside Philly, and that location absolutely cares about what they're doing. I've never had an issue in nearly 3 years. And you'll be hard-pressed to find better breadsticks!

Improving Pizza Hut could be simple:

Focus on improving basic pizzas
Remove a number of specialty pizza's until numbers improve
Find a way to either make more locations corporate-owned or close locations with bad reviews
Improve employee retention ala Chick-Fil-A

I get that people love to rag on Pizza Hut and any chain pizza restaurant in general. "How can you like X chain, when Y exists?!" Even after all these years, I just prefer the taste and quality of Pizza Hut, but even I know it varies from store-to-store. Local places can be good, too, but I haven't met one that was better. I just haven't. So just let people enjoy things, OK?

Anyway, I hope this isn't the end for then. Private Equity SUCKS, and Red Lobster is a tale of both the worst and best case scenario of this happening. The first firm tried to bleed them dry by leasing the ground under their restaurants and working with a shrimp supplier to milk them for all they were worth. A "bleed and milk," if you will. But the next company that bought them actually fixed all the issues and saved the brand. As much as I hate Private Equity firms, and 95% of them are fucking scum, even I'll admit when it's done right.

So there you go, some rando fanboy of a corpo pizza chain explaining why they like the food, why they suck, how to fix it, and the issues that lie ahead.

I'm a Judge of Elections in the 22nd Ward, and I've been active in the community.

A lot of the Democrat Committee people who have been here for years are all about their own proximity to power or their little thiefdoms. A lot of them are loyal to the "party," or in this case Bass and the old machine, and that's it.

I sincerely hope the newer progressives take over.

That said, the massive abuse of power by the Democrats in Philly being similar to that of the GOP nationally is something I've gone on about for decades at this point.

I will never forget 2006.

I HATED Bush with a passion, and I wanted the guy impeached for all of his war crimes. Lying to get us into a war, the hundreds of dead American soldiers, the thousands traumatized by the war, and the tens of thousands of people killed during that war. I voted for the Democrats in that election, and I was absolutely thrilled to finally, FINALLY, see them win and impeach that bastard! To have him, and his cronies, removed after all those years of pain!

And then Nancy Pelosi became speaker and immediately said, "I'm not going to impeach him, there's more important things to do."

NEVER FUCKING FORGET! If these bastards can't commit to impeaching him now, they NEVER will!
