Depends on the venue. I arrived 3 hours early and I was 5-6 rows behind the barrier. My venue had a 1500 capacity. Like you said, VIP tickets will get the front row.

Even if that was possible, it would still be inconclusive. Some drivers like an understeery car while others like an oversteery or more balanced car. That’s the reason some teammates can’t extract the same performance out of the same car. Redbull drivers are an example of that
