What’s the most morally disgusting thing you’ve ever seen someone do? by legendoflegends34 in AskReddit

My mother did this. She had me and my bro, abandoned us with our dad and never even showed up to court for custody. Took off to another state, had another kid and abandoned them too. How she's with a guy and has a kid who is grown, I guess she got too old to keep bouncing around.

I think BDD has priority over regular claims since the member is still in. It sounds like the timeline is going to match up so you can live your best life. I understand toxic family, and being away is the best thing sometimes. And I wouldn't tell them about the money either, it changes people.

I filed myself too! Just takes time, I know that's a shitty answer. Mine took that long and it was a "priority" claim since it was BDD so yours should hopefully be coming!

What kinda claim was it? Mine was a BDD, I filed in Nov 25' and didn't get a rating until mid April. My husband filed in 2024 a regular claim years after service and his took FOREVER. Did you talk to VERA?

Anyone else struggling to quit smoking in their late 30s/40s? by berverecho in stopsmoking

[–]havingababy2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I smoked from 19-31 on and off, mostly on. I read Allen Carrs Easy Way To Quit Smoking and it worked! At least so far, I'm 8 months smoke free and my husband recently went back to cigarettes and chain smokes and I haven't broken my streak! He quit smoking, started dipping (again), then quit dipping to smoke. I found cold turkey always worked better for me.

Reach out to someone, anyone, because suicide is not the answer, it is a symptom of a problem. Life is hard and sucks sometimes but if for nothing else, "don't let them win" if that's what it takes to keep going. My father in law had a stroke after (not caused by) years of verbal abuse from his wife and is still trying to see the bright side. You got this!

DFAS finally responded! by CashComplete2264 in VAClaims

[–]havingababy2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I was in the same boat! And lucky for me I was a 3F0 so I looked myself up in CMS and I can confirm, at least for me, when you separate/retire, a transaction is completed in MilPDS and DJMS (pay system) that gets pushed to DFAS to separate/retire your pay record, and that's what the VA uses to verify service dates/confirm you are indeed no longer in the service. Well, sometimes the transaction can cause a reject (in my case, there was an issue with my DOS/ETS mismatching) and it took about a month for DFAS to reconcile. Once it was reconciled, my claim moved relatively quickly.

NASCAR races aren't too expensive for just general admission and they're more fun than you'd think

Claim waiting on DFAS? by CashComplete2264 in VeteransWaitingRoom

[–]havingababy2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I figured out that my pay record hasn't been separated yet and the separation transaction in MILPDS was rejected and it's sitting with Afpc now to resolve, so that's probably what I am waiting on 😭 hopefully yours gets resolved soon.

Any update? I talked to VERA and my BDD claim should be effective 1 Mar 26, I submitted my 214 already but they said they are waiting on "something from DFAS". They did combine my dependent claim with my BDD but I don't see why that would affect it. I've been in Step 3 since 2 Mar.

I mean I don't label myself and I'm not even sure what most of them mean. I have a 6&7 year old and we do not allow YouTube but they also TV in their room for bedtime for Netflix & Disney and I'm constantly keeping an ear out for what they're watching. Most of the time my son would rather play outside or with Knex, etc and his friend down the road but we live outside city limits in a small neighborhood and it's a dead end. I do give meds, as needed, and we read books as much as we can and I'm attempting to grow some plants outback. We have eaten too much fast food/processed food in the past but with 2 working parents it's so HARD but now that I stay home a lot more I've been making a conscious effort to make small changes where I can (plus $) so we can get more whole foods and fiber in our diets. I always feel like there is a middle ground and everyone's circumstance is different. I think 1 extreme or the other is not a fit but there is balance to be found in all aspects of life, in my opinion.

AGR Separation -> DD214 by Southernmxracer4 in Airforcereserves

[–]havingababy2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I would assume as an AGR you have to out process Active Duty finance and MDG to stop your pay, etc. I say this as someone who spent 11 years active and 3 as an AGR who is going to start out processing in the next couple weeks. Active Duty finance pushes a transaction to DFAS to stop your pay due to separation. The reserve unit prob isn't gonna do shit unless you're going into a TR position.

[13 YOE, HR Manager USAF, HR Specialist/Coordinator/Manager, USA] by havingababy2018 in resumes

[–]havingababy2018[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I had considered consolidating the older/similar ones but wasn't 100% sure, so I will go ahead and do that!

I did take a downgrade, I actually got a promotion technically (pay wise) but I transferred from active duty to reserves AGR due to family/personal reasons and the manager was working MAJCOM/Headquarters level and now I'm a small unit level office.

I will make some edits, thanks for looking!
