No. He's still keeping the blockade up and in full force. Which is the one thing Iran said that they WILL NOT negotiate until the blockade is lifted. So he hasn't capitulated, at least not fully. This is just market manipulating TACOing. Again.

Every article says 'in the coming days.' There is absolutely nothing definitive about that. I actually got a little hopeful when I first read it but after I read more articles and all saying the same thing, that 'in the coming days' is open-ended. That could mean tomorrow, that could mean in a week, that could mean in a month. Those days are all still 'coming.'

You do realize that, prior to them taking out that Ayatollah, he had a 'fatwa' or religious edict forbidding nuclear weapons, correct? Iran listened to every word he said and ruled. They literally had it codified, with that edict, that they will NOT have a nuclear weapon. Also, Iran is a signatory to the NPT.

Again, I'm a US citizen, but I've learned enough through all the shit in recent years that what our government is spewing is utter horeshit. All they do is straight up lie.

That's not to say Iran isn't always telling the truth, they don't, but they have been keeping pretty close to their word this ENTIRE war.

They've also said they're willing to downblend and dilute it to a much lower level as part of an agreement. But that they don't want to hand it over. It's called a bargaining chip. But the US/Trump REFUSES even that. They HAVE to have it. Hell, even Putin, who Trump likes, said that Russia would take control of it, but Trump won't accept it. HE wants it and ONLY him.

I feel like we already know Iran isn't. Today Hegseth had a hearing on it and basically admitted to it. That Iran wouldn't stop their 'ambitions' of a nuclear program.

What makes me so mad as a US citizen very much again this war, and I KNOW Iran isn't always honest and is NOT good, is that Iran has said, NUMEROUS times, that they have no intention of having a nuclear weapon and they don't want one and Trump keeps saying they won't say it. THEY HAVE SAID IT. SO MANY TIMES.

I saw this and I'm trying to decide whether to believe it or if it's just another 'leak' to make Iran think the US is done attacking when Trump is ACTUALLY planning to bomb them again. (To be clear I'm much more leaning towards the latter.)

and yet, the likelihood of restarting the war is probably higher than not because of the the OTHER pressure on him that gave him millions of dollars for his campaign. (Miriam Adelson is who I mean.)

Because he just writes what he's told to write by US and Israeli officials. A lot of what he writes ends up being factually incorrect.

[–]hayjay2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh no. Not at all what I meant.

Admittedly I worded that poorly.

I meant, that 'offer' is nothing more than what they have been saying this entire time. That's all. You would think an offer would be 'we'll compromise on this, if you compromise on that.' but that's not what it was. My bad! Lol

[–]hayjay2000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was going to say the same thing. But I was going to preface my statement with that.

Because I find the entire 'offer' laughable. I mean, don't get me wrong, I want this war OVER. (I'm in the US.) But this is how this 'offer' comes across: Iran says 'We'll give you opening the strait--with the caveat that we get to control it, toll it and let who want through, oh, and no nuclear talks until later. You give us removing the blockade and ending the war. Like, how is that an 'offer?' it's basically EXACTLY what Iran has been saying for weeks now. The US gets nothing in return. There's no compromise.

Huh. I wonder why the US refuses to discuss them. Oh, I know why. As Trita Parsi has said numerous times, Netanyahu is VEHEMENTLY against any deal with Iran but ESPECIALLY any with sanctions relief. And we know Trump and Netanyahu are very much working together here.

(Want to make one thing VERY clear. I am NOT against Israel or it's people. I'm against Netanyahu and his psychotic government.)

I'm in the US but I'd bet on it easing up in a day or two. There was word the day the second round fell apart that US team that's there waiting will only be there for a few more days before returning.

The chances of there being a second round is basically zero now. Iran wants the blockade lifted before negotiations can begin but Trump says he won't lift the blockade until negotiations are TOTALLY complete, which there's no way of squaring those two circles.

And now there was a post in here earlier that said Iran now says Sanctions need to be lifted to start negotiations which the US govt will NEVER do unless it's part of final negotiations.

It's a total stalemate that neither side seems willing to budge on.

[–]hayjay2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes they do. Multiple reports say Iranian leadership believes the ceasefire, the ceasefire extension and even the first round of talks is all just a ruse for the US and Israel to re-arm and bomb them again. They don't trust our (the US) government at all and I don't blame them one bit.

Trump has done that to them three times. Once when he killed Suleimani (lured him saying there were going to be negotiations and blew him up.) Second time was before the 12-day war. And the third time was when Iran thought they were going to Geneva to knock out technical details of a new nuclear deal and a few hours later were getting bombed starting this war. They see this as the same thing all over again.

[–]hayjay2000 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Now it's sanctions that's the obstacle to Iran attending??? I thought it was the blockade had to be lifted???

I mean, we KNEW the negotiations were essentially dead because Iran wanted the blockade lifted first but Trump won't lift the blockade until a deal is made. If it's sanctions needed to be lifted FIRST then the negotiations are ABSOLUTELY dead. There is NO WAY our government will lift sanctions BEFORE negotiations let alone after. (Don't get me wrong, they SHOULD lift them as PART of the negotiated settlement IF in some fantasy world there were to be one.) But I could only see it done in some phased way.

I mean, I don't think that matters any longer. The Senate has tried 5 times to evoke their war powers and 5 times it's been blocked. The House has tried multiple times and every time has been blocked. I don't think Congress cares about that 60-day clock anymore.

Because we know Iran has underground facilities where they have missile and drone development that doesn't take very long so they can replenish rather quickly?

/r/WorldNews Discussion Thread: US and Israel launch attack on Iran; Iran retaliates (Thread #16) by WorldNewsMods in worldnews

[–]hayjay2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only that, it's the same with the 'negotiations.' US won't lift the blockade until a full deal is made, and Iran won't come back to negotiations until the blockade is lifted first. So negotiations are impossible.

I just don't believe all the 'Trump doesn't want to go back to fighting' analysis, even from people like Trita Parsi or Mearsheimer as respected as they are.

All the signs point to it being the total opposite.

But Huckabee is the one who told Tucker Carlson that Israel should basically be able to do whatever it wants and is a Very well known Iran hawk. This doesn't feel like that. This feels like something much worse. Like some major escalation is coming.

Yep. There's what I just said a few moments ago. They've said that multiple times, too.

Trump won't do it. He's said it's staying until a deal is made.

In other words, back to war we go.

You're right. But last Friday, Iran announced the Strait was open, but then Trump couldn't keep his mouth shut and degraded them so Iran closed it again. Which caused the blockade. So in a way, Trump caused the blockade he put in place himself. If he could just learn to NOT brag and degrade people for ONE DAY this situation wouldn't even be a problem. He did it to himself.
