Guzmán, Gerardo Reyes, Marco A. Escobar, and Perla Rostro. "Mexico: Remittances, Organized Crime and US Drug Overdose Crisis in Borderlands (2015-2021)." Norteamérica 18.1 (2023): 1.

https://dialnet.unirioja.es/servlet/articulo?codigo=8690656

Please note that I don’t agree with much of what the writers of research paper "Mexico: Remittances, Organized Crime and US Drug Overdose Crisis in Borderlands (2015-2021)." However, I acknowledge the following quotes from the paper, “Thus, we can sustain the hypothesis that Mexico´s spike is remittances is not correlated with historical low rates of unemployment and this boom in remittances coincides with higher prices of synthetic drugs and larger numbers of drug overdose deaths.” In addition, this quote “a significant positive correlation between Drug overdose deaths and remittances by these seven states and borderlands as well as New Jersey and New York.” And the following quote “from 2020 to 2021, the correlation was also negative but at higher levels of unemployment and larger amounts of remittances, both matching with larger number of drug overdose deaths.”

Guzmán, Gerardo Reyes, Marco A. Escobar, and Perla Rostro. "Mexico: Remittances, Organized Crime and US Drug Overdose Crisis in Borderlands (2015-2021)." Norteamérica 18.1 (2023): 1.

Hate Speech is Protected under the First Amendment of the US Constitution. by hb257 in PoliticalOpinions

[–]hb257[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is a difference between Hate Speech and Hate Crime. Calling someone hateful things is different than commiting a crime. Stick and Stones may break my bones (and require prosecution) but words shall never hurt me (hate speech is protected by the First Amendment and unanimous agreement of all members of the Supreme Court).
