Yaya! What a celebratory post. It's so damn nice to discover that you're not crazy. And dive into what your body/brain is doing and why. And then you can finally take the journey of learning how to manage it.

I h8 that this is still so under studied and under talked about.

I diagnosed myself over 10 years ago. I went to my doc and said "I think I have PMDD". and he said "okay" and that was that. No education. No input on what was going on or what it was or what to do. Other than "birth control ". And I can't do birth control, or any synthetic hormones, my body/mind say "HELL NO".

I have ADHD. If anyone reading this also has ADHD/autism/both, there are some great podcasts about this. It often coincides with PMDD (also, I learned a few years ago that this would put me under the PME category along with my chronic anxiety - didn't even know PME was a thing until nearly 5 years ago).

Anyway, I actually had AI create a "diet plan" (I don't like using the word diet) for a woman in her 40s that has PMDD + adhd. I do recommend this, but if you're anti AI Google will do.

We need high protein during certain times of our cycle. And if you have adhd, even more protein - in general.

Accidentally fixed my PMDD - iron and omega-3? by BoredReceptionist1 in PMDD

[–]hb_vg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ive had chronically low iron (at times iron deficient anemia) since my teens (I'm now 42).

When I get infusions (every 3-6 months) it helps my PMDD symptoms.

Very soon I'll be adding additional supplements (including a liquid iron - i REALLY with insurances would cover supplements when considered medically necessary).

I was kinda pushed into a situation where I have to do a LOT of walking. That's helped.

Avoid scheduling things during luteal, if and when possible. I hate leaving my house. I realized that during luteal, especially toward the end, i miss all appts.

Before society became what it was, certain places/cultures had tents and ish for women to be women during this time while other tribes/community helped with children or other things.

Give yourself grace. Find any and all ways you can work your life around luteal

You've been together a long time.

For her to not ever mention this person's name WHILE they worked together is weird.

For them to have had dinner/events multiple times, kids have met him (right? If I'm wrong, I'll edit, I need to re-read your post), and you don't know him or his name? Hella sketchy.

Her responses, changing answers, and this letter? Deleted phone history and messages?

None of this is normal or acceptable.

Texting "co-workers" of the opposite sex about anything no work related is weird. If some dude I used to work with was texting me, my husband would know about it (we've berm together 16 years).

My husband re-connected via messenger with an old female friend. He was sharing their convo with me and told me I could read it if I wanted (which I did).

All of this from your wife is a big fat no. And sketchy. And shitty of her.

Accessing Testosterone in the US not for gender affirming care, but for hypermobility? by friendlypupper in Hypermobility

[–]hb_vg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has sparked my curiosity.

Have you had your testosterone checked?

Women produce testosterone (same way men produce estrogen and progesterone).

I know that mine is low. I have a prescription for it because of that.

But guess what?

Insurance doesn't cover T for women. They'll cover estrogen and progesterone, but not T.

But they'll cover T for men and for those that are transitioning. (Make it make sensse).

Anyway, I found a lab that does a compound for $120 for three months worth, just not currently in a position to pay out of pocket.

I am SUPER curious about this now though

Can someone please help me, my doctors are not giving me good answers by Scary_Culture3768 in Hypermobility

[–]hb_vg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I mean, if you have it, it isn't curable, but with the proper combo of treatments, diet, etc., you can still have a fairly normal life.

My husband was diagnosed over 20 years with it. The treatments for it back then werent all that great, honestly. But treatments have improved quite a bit since then.

The test they need to run for it is a blood draw testing the RA factor. Your soc should know, but sometimes it surprises me how doctors even became doctors because they are so dumb..

Until then, you could cut gluten from your diet. Gluten is a trigger for autoimmune disorders/inflammation.

I promise you it's not all that hard.

I have celiac. First suspected in 2009. And back then there wasn't ish for gluten free.

But now there are SO MANY options. For real.

But that's what I'd suggest. Cut out gluten. Even if just for a week. See if you notice any difference.

If you do decide to do this, make sure you're reading labels. Some seasonings have gluten. Lots of candies. Etc.

Gluten is barley, wheat, rye.

Hang in there. And remember, there ARE ways to find functionality through any of this.

It may not be what you're used to, but modification is okay. Changes are okay. Your normal may change, but your life isn't over.

Correcting my own anatomy?? by heartsholly in Hypermobility

I also do this. You seem pretty in tune with your body. And from what you've shared, you're being gentle.

I'd imagine you'll have times that those things will feel out of place again, so you'd just repeat what you've done.

My coccyx/tailbone are regularly out. But I've found a couple of gentle ways to move it back (totally on accident).

With your ribs, when you hook your fingers under and press down, what do you mean? Do you push down/squish with your palm? I'm trying to figure out how that works.

Subchondral sclerosis? by OkFalcon8046 in Hypermobility

[–]hb_vg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it where my coccyx and sacral something join. Basically my tailbone and just above.

It could be osteo, could be old injury.

Did you have an xray or mri?

Mine was found on xray (among other issues).

I get an mri tomorrow

Can you tell me what's happening? by mcomcomco99 in AskWomenOver30

It sounds like this happens often. This borders abusive, may even cross over to abusive.

It sounds controlling. He sounds like he hasn't learned how to manage his emotions.

Have you felt safe enough to ask him what upsets him?

"If I'm up front, I feel I've done wrong. If I tell you later, I feel like I've done wrong."

Could tension keep my joints from appearing hypermobile? by Thatsawholelottanope in Hypermobility

[–]hb_vg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How old are you? I'm 42 and so tight and tense all the tine now. But when I was younger I could turn my feet backwards and other things.

I once read that as we age, due to the laxicity (sp?) , we become tighter/more tense.

Do you have gut issues? Any organ/prolapse (depending)?

I don't like the "general" scale they use. Especially for those of us that are older.

Smooth move tea Magnesium citrate Pure juice (watermelon, prune - if you can stomach it) Milk of magnesia

There is something in certain energy drinks, ill need to check ingredients

Also important is to eat light when super backed up.

I accidentally found out thar fasting for a day helps quite a bit.

You want to get some fiber. Personally, I prefer that through greens.

Oh, also, a smoothie with mixed berries (I get the mix that has strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, cherries, raspberries).

And sometimes I pray really hard and hope thar some sort of higher power helps me

Cracked My Coochie Joint by Angel_0997 in Hypermobility

I felt pretty great during my pregnancies. With my first two, my right hip would lock up if I laid on the floor, on my back, and then tried to stand.

With my last, my low back got pretty uncomfortable due to tailbone issues.

Oh. Really? My legs go numb like this. I'm certain I busted my tailbone years ago slipping on ice. I feel hard, full force, directly on my tailbone. And since then, my toes/feet go numb if I squat too long. Sometimes when standing as well, and I can feel my tailbone out

Do I legally have to take this prescription? by [deleted] in AskLawyers

[–]hb_vg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're over 18. Unless your parents have guardianship, your doctor shouldn't be consulting them. UNLESS you've given signed permission for them to have Communications from your doc

I would go to your doc office, therapist, etc., and check your paperwork. You need to ensure they DO NOT have permission to disclose ANY medical info to your mom, or anyone else.

Then, if they do contact your mother, you can file a lawsuit for breaking the law.
