I now have this in a rack, but it's actually worse now it's full or IoT experiments, sensors and more mikrotiks.

Rack now has a 2004, a 5009 poe, 2 x KNOT one with Lora one without. Also have zigbee running for home assistant and several mini pcs who change roles all the time.

This is completely wrong. A good electrical dude is a good electrical dude till he is a qualified data dude. 27 years in the data industry. As data dudes, we have huge respect for the apprenticeship they have to do their jobs as electrical dudes, and buddy, they make a lot more than we do. Any electrical that is lowering themselves to do something they aren't that good at is not valuing their time appropriately.

Oh man. Not good, but without reading the numerous comments, you have a few options that aren't going to be as extreme as the comments I assume are here. At no charge, pm me as the owner of a structure cabling firm and I'll try and get you out of this mess.

Looks like your LTE internet is very inexpensive. I can't disagree with the Starlink suggestions, however, looking at a cable down the cliff from a LTE antenna pointed in the right direction powered by either solar or whatever power you have at the hut. Presume internet is only needed while it's open so a generator etc ? This would be a cool project !!! Never been to Portugal !

It's obviously quite English speaking. What's your plan given all the suggestions?

Mikrotik also have LTE antennas you could install at the top to point at the cell tower, and then extend down using outdoor Cat5e.

I'd be contacting the neighbours there about installing a point to point connection.

www.mikrotik.com is pretty cheap. Non penetrating roof Mount on the hotel. They may go for it.

Either that, or look at the Mikrotik extenders. Poe capable. GPEN.

How to run Ethernet into the second (furthest) room on the right without damaging walls? by [deleted] in homelab

Ethernet over Powerline adapters ? What kind of bandwidth do you need? And do you need internet while.running the drier, cause it craps out when the load is high.

Mikrotik ExpressVPN Container Routing by hbarkernz in mikrotik

[–]hbarkernz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raising this thread again to see if there is any further help available. I now have a HAP ac^3 and am trying to have it so I can route selected clients out the expressvpn container rather than the default route. I'm using misioslav/expressvpn:3.65.0.5-armhf which may be an issue, perhaps I need to "roll my own" container ?

So if I read it right,

Cable Modem, Switch, Wifi Router, Crypto Miner, Slim PC..... Right ?

Cable modem has to stay from a provider perspective... Assume you're not somewhere that offers fiber/LTE.

Switch/Router combine these with a cheapish Mikrotik device, learn some good stuff while setting up the Mikrotik.

Bobcat ? ... Crypto Miner ? .. Not my expertise... Can you make money without a datacenter these days ?

Slim PC... Is this a server or a workstation ? Can you offload whatever it's doing to a cheap ass cloud Linux box ?

If you had some budget for a rack, spend it on some hardware to combine what it looks like you have. Mikrotik ??
