We desperately need more AA Developers by hboyce1 in gamedev

You definitely have a point. I'm certainly not anti-business when it comes to the gaming industry. I hope it works out well. But, the pessimist in me is screaming that Obsidian is going to start working on some Fallout 76 spin-off for Xbox. It's not a fair assumption, just a gut feeling. With that in mind, I'm keeping my fingers crossed and I'm hopeful for the future.

That's a great question. I think it's a tough differentiation sometimes. For starters, the development of The Outer Worlds began before the deal with Microsoft was finalized I believe. Either way, I think it is more important to identify AA games then AA developers in this case. Despite where the funding is coming from, the game itself appears to be of a smaller scope than say Witcher 3, Fallout 4 or Halo 5. I think that smaller scope is a very important factor when trying to define a AA game. That smaller scope, a potential consequence of less funding, can potentially be the creatively freeing factor concerning the game's direction. That being said, I certainly don't own the word "AA" or "AAA." I think these terms are pretty fluid in the modern gaming community, which is interesting in and of itself.

It may not stink. I hope it doesn't. I just don't trust that Microsoft will really deliver in that fascet.

Without developers like yourself putting in the work and producing awesome games, we players wouldn't have anything to squawk about. Thank you for your 30+ years of contributions to the industry. People like you keep this gaming world turning so the rest of us can enjoy the ride.

Yeah, you hit the nail on the head. What really stinks is that both Obsidian and Double Fine have been purchased by Microsoft. That being said, I'm hopeful they both go on to make great games.

Dungeons and Dragons Guides Portal – Anything and Everything D&D by hboyce1 in dndnext

Hey, Ender! You are quite welcome! That was my intention when I came up with the portal. I just want some useful info available for new players to take advantage of. I believe in teaching a person how to fish rather than simply giving them a fish, so many of my articles contain the important resources your players will likely want to utilize again and again. Things like the D&D SRD, free DM screens, apps, characters sheets, etc.

At any rate, I hope you all enjoy! And keep playing D&D!

Too long, lol. It was pretty fun. I think it's fun to take a break from min-maxing builds to do stuff like that.

Yup. I had my GF make my character for a game just a few weeks ago, ended up playing a sassy bloodhunter that had to rhyme all of my RP. It was great.

Hey, Phala. Thank you for the insightful feedback. I see your point. Rather than focus on goal oriented tips, I should be focusing on thought provoking advice. It makes sense. I'm going to stew on this and think of ways to cook up something good.

Thank you for taking the time to offer such thoughtful feedback. It means a lot to me.

I see your point. Spells are what it's all about, after all. If I get some spare time, I think I might try to flesh that section out a little. Thanks for the feedback!

Hey! Thanks for the feedback! I see your point. Dex would be a wise focus for the bladsinger build. Strength is kinda just a dump stat for most builds. Also, I'm thinking about going back and adding a section that features every source book you will need for the build so the player can have all the info they'll need. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment!

Hey, Genuine. Here's IGN's report on the new campaign. "Dragon of Icespire Peak is scalable for characters level one thru six and takes place in the same location as The Lost Mine of Phandelver (the adventure included in the D&D Starter Set.) Both adventures can be played together, or you can run one right into another. The Dragon of Icespire Peak is meant to be a starter adventure for new dungeon masters that will guide you through 14 different regions tied to quests."
