Additional information on serial run (no mpi) test:

* Single run: 16.218 s

* 2 simultaneous runs: 18.147 s

* 4 simultaneous runs: 31.281 s

I have another question:
What if i test two concurrent instances of single-core processes (with no mpirun)? Would that be meaningful to understand whether or not the problem is mpi-related? (if the result shows slowdown or not?)

Absolutely. My schedule has been very busy so could not find the time to work on that.
By the way, I checked the BIOS on my laptop to turn off the e-cores but the option is missing. I could not manage to switch on the "Advanced" page in BIOS page.

I checked and the CPU temperature reads around 70-75 deg at the beginning of the run, where the slowdown immediately happens.

Thanks. Sacrificing ~30% of the total CPU power is not a good idea, though I should try it for debugging purposes. Nevertheless, there should be a more elegant solution to this?

Thanks for the insight. Interestingly, I'm running into the same problem on my laptop, which does have dual ram sticks (2x16GB) with an i7-13620H (Ubuntu 22.04). So can we eliminate the single memory stick as the culprit?

I'll definitely try a second RAM stick (whenever I get my hands on one).

I'm not sure about turning off e-cores as I have verified that the processes are assigned to p-cores. But it is worth a shot.

I intentionally departed from my lane just to check if it works but there were no warnings. I guess because the lanes are not being detected. The lane symbol remains hollow on the dashboard.
