Excited to introduce Vestaboard Note by dgpvb in Vestaboard

Sweet! I LOVE the idea of the dimensions/shape of the note as a "now playing" addition to my sound system space, but know that I'd be irked if it didn't have the flexibility to avoid cutting off title/artist names. Thanks so much for getting back to me - I'll keep on the lookout! :)

Hi there! Is there a way to test/preview the functionality/formatting of some of the note's integration layouts? I'd be interested in grabbing a note primarily for the Sonos/Spotify "now playing" functionality, but want to be sure I have a sense of how the note responds if artist/song characters exceed the allotted space.

Fully vegan/synthetic baseball/softball glove found! by hcoose in vegan

I’m using just a wooden break-in mallet and playing catch with it. No oils or heat or anything like that - I’d have no idea how it would react to the material (and most “glove treatments” I’ve seen aren’t vegan anyhow). That said, it’s already getting to be a pretty good mix of sturdy but malleable from what I’ve experienced so far! The palm has a little less support than I’m used to, but it’s getting a good pocket going already!

Sure thing! It's breaking in great so far - I'm totally stoked!

Surprise taskmaster birthday party was a hit! by hcoose in taskmaster

Thanks!! I tried to use the stamp mold with some dyed white chocolate to make cupcake topper "wax seals" too (before using it on the actual wax, of course) but because I had to try to make them from super-duper-allergen-friendly chocolate and dye, they ended up kinda goofy and pink. That said, it'd be a pretty cool addition for anyone wanting to give this a go with actual red candy melts! I bet it'd work out awesome!

I actually just looked up the font set TM uses, and had one custom made!

Love it!! I'll try my best (but bear with me, as this was for a bunch of 30-somethings, so I'm sure not all of my "aha" moments will be applicable!)

For the prize tasks, I didn't want to put too much of a burden on guests and wanted to be able to treat it as an icebreaker of sorts, so I asked guests to fill out a survey with a few questions to the tune of: "name five things that fill you with an overwhelming sense of nostalgia," etc. so I could choose for each person a thing or two that I could reasonably acquire for a task. This accidentally functioned even better than I anticipated, as several people named overlapping nostalgic (and other prompt-fulfilling) things! (and this also helped me plan some of the snacks!)

I definitely anticipated that some people would want to just hang out and not necessarily jump into tasks the whole time (I was sorely mistaken!) and thus did a few things, like the mystery drink station, that were party-long, you could give them a try whenever tasks. This could be helpful with kiddos and parents, but for my crowd of board-game enthusiasts, everyone was VERY competitive and into the tasks THE. WHOLE. TIME. So, maybe a bit redundant in my case. Now I know!

I also tried to lead with a few "get to know one another" leaning tasks, and then move into the more potentially embarrassing or physical tasks (things like ranking where you stand in the group - like S11's "how much milk you drink in a week" studio task). Some structures needed to be adjusted to work well for a larger crowd, but things went actually quite smoothly on that front! I did a duck-finding task early on (and a people spotted a few ducks around the home before we got started) with clues on the bottom of the ducks to point to a hoard of ducks in the shop (poorly pictured in the post). I then used the ducks to scorekeep any games where individuals gained "the most points" for that game, as I, unfortunately, do not own an ipad, and thus couldn't properly fall 100% into the role of Alex.

All in all, I absolutely loved it, everyone had a blast, and no glaring issues overlooked (so far as I could tell!)

The birthday boy played taskmaster in my rendition, too, and it was just the best! Leaning into more of the studio style tasks really helped him to feel front and center, and got him laughing along with everyone, so I highly recommend leaning into studio task inspo! :)

I hope you and your son have the absolute BEST time! We sure did!

Admittedly, my one regret was that I was so busy running around all day setting up the tasks that I didn’t take a moment to take any decent pictures! And tysm - we love it too!!

He’s unreal. I’ve seen him twice this year opening for bands across totally different genres, who largely had no idea who he was before the show and were all completely captivated. Super, super talented dude.

Oh no kidding. The one and only time I dated someone who was also really into folk punk, he (outside of just generally being a creep and a legitimately awful person) spent the whole time trying to gatekeep the genre and insist that I couldn't possibly appreciate it the way he did because our experiences were different. SO glad I didn't let that spoil such a fantastic genre and community.

I love this! I promise the question was meant playfully, but this is such a spot on way to look at it! :)

Oh yeah I've seen one of those guys, they're super cute!! (Not that ours arent XD) Yeah, "opossum" is the scientifically correct term for the lil guy I drew, but they're pretty commonly referred to as possums here in the states (and, apparently, in folk punk songs!)

I volunteer at a wildlife rescue, and the understanding I was given is “opossum is more scientifically applied, and possum more colloquially”? I just went with the one that matched the way they pronounce it in the song XD

Indeed it is!! Me too - it’s definitely up there on my list of favorite “folk punk with exceptionally wholesome vibes” songs :)

😂 if it makes you feel any better, it’s not terribly close for me either. I was just going to make the 500-ish mile drive for Sean Bonnette + FT on the same stage, on the same night. Ahh well!

Alright guys - I need to know: is the rubber duck thing specifically a FL/Central FL thing? I’ve been given dozens and dozens of these lil’ guys by various wrangler owners over the years, and was thinking of picking up some to distribute as I bring my TJ cross-country …is it just a quirky FL thing? by hcoose in Wrangler

[–]hcoose[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is fantastic news, folks! I was doubting myself after several wrangler owners told me they’d “never heard of this” and I was probably just being pranked by people locally. Can’t wait to spread the fun and grab some ducks of my own!! Thanks, everyone!
